Life of bella

Sometimes you don't realize how much you miss your friends and family back home until they are standing in front of you, sometimes it feels amazing to talk about anything and everything without having to dial a phone number or write a long text. So when my bother stopped by on his way to Chicago for about 36 hours, I was thrilled. It is impossible to see the entire city in a day or two, but he got to experience the famous NY vibe, the skyline and my incredible jokes again.

It is something about showing your life abroad to your friends and family, I spoke with such a passion about where I went and what I did while he struggled to take it all in. New York knows how to make a first impression and take your breath away, but to me these days was all about spending time with one of my closest friends because like he said: you are so much better live!

street style

They say New Yorkers have a specific style, they say New Yorkers are bold and they say New Yorkers were a lot of black. So when I moved to New York I wondered how this city would change the way I dress because every city I have ever lived in always impacts what I wear and how I wear it.

I have to disagree with the typical stereotype of black because New Yorkers should not be defined by one color, but their attitude towards who is wearing the clothes. The one thing you will notice when visiting this amazing melting pot is that confidence is key and if you like something, you wear it- because it doesn't matter what you wear but HOW you wear it.

Feeling my way though the darkness, guide by a beating heart. I can't tell where the journey will end, but I know where to start. They tell me I'm too young to understand, they say I´m caught up in a dream, well life will pass me by if I don't open open up my eyes. Well that's fine by me. So wake me up when its all over, when I´m wiser and I'm older. All this time I was finding myself and I didn't know I was lost.

This song make so much sense and sometimes I wish someone would let me sleep for a decade and fix my life, so when I woke up everything would be perfect and I could start over again. I know Avicii does not mean sleep in the "close your eyes in your bed way", but potato-potAto!!

street art

Everyone that knows me, knows that I love color and patterns- I feel colors brings life to my face and outfit and makes me smile, however sometimes various shades of grey is as amazing as any color. I was walking around in Williamsburg one night when I say this painting and it took my breath away- I had to go back the next morning to take a picture of it with better light.

I am one of those girls who loves a good outfit, who thrives when I feel on point and who will be late for a class, dinner or night out if the outfit feels wrong. I find inspiration online, in people walking by on the streets and colors that stand out- everything and anyone can inspire me, but when I search online- Pinterest is the place that inspires me the most.

One of my favorite things when I look through images on Pinterest is to write down what I like in an outfit and try to use these elements from my own wardrobe. For Instance, in the first image I love her blazer- it is such a good staple piece that can bring home any outfit. The leopard coat in the second one is amazing, but look how she layers everything on top of each other while the pants in the last picture stands out.

What do you do when you need to find inspiration and what do you like in an outfit?

Pictures are borrowed from pinterest.

One of the main reasons I love Williamsburg, Brooklyn and New York is the easy access to inspiration and constant change in the air. There is an urge to speak your mind and show your interest regardless of it is a picture, quote or a painting on the wall.

When I was walking around the other day I saw an advertising for addiction to street art and somehow that fit me, somehow I fell in love with graffiti, written words on walls and quotes on the ground. Somehow I see beauty where other people see vandalism, I see art where other people see words and I get inspired by a red painting on a white wall while other people might not even noticed it.

The New School

So first week of school has finally begun and somehow I feel I left my brain back in Norway, even though I want to learn more and ask a million questions in class, it is always a transition one way or another. So while my brain is adapting to expand it´s knowledge, I use this time to expand my selfie game. I know it is shameless habit, but sometimes you just need to accept the reality of the situation and take that picture.

Do you guys have any questions or desires you want me to show from New York or about myself? Let me know:)

makeup

I am finally back in New York and I have to admit it feels great, no snow on the ground and a little bit more sunlight during the day makes me a very happy person. Another thing that makes me happy is exploring new things, ideas or in this case a store. Ever since I watch Desi Perkins explain how she got the glow on youtube, I wanted to learn more about makeup products and how it affects my skint.

I have this idea that makeup is just like clothes and that drugstores like Target and Wholefoods can be compared to H&M and Zara, however you need knowledge and information in order to know what to look for. One of the stores that is highly recommended online is Glossier- it is an online makeup store that provides cheap and good makeup to everyone, however they have a showroom in New York where you can take a look and try the products before ordering them home..

I absolutely love the idea of an online store with a showroom, however I got disappointed and left empty handed, but at least I know and can continue my search for knowledge and information somewhere else.

I am one of those girls who has been on a long distance flight enough in order to make a routine, some habits that makes my 8 hours back to Oslo so much more comfortable.

One of the most important things is to both feel and look good, so skincare is essential in my carry. I discovered sheet mask this year and fell in love, I might look a little funny for 20 minutes on the plane, but my skin is on point when I arrive.

Some may say I am a diva, however I look at it as being comfortable in the air on my way home!

Everyone that knows me know that I am not really interested in sports, I haven't paid attention to any athletics since I stopped playing fotball (or soccer) six years ago. However two of my cousins are what I define as athletes, they live and breath for their sport so when my sister asked me to come and cheer on my youngest cousin in the Norwegian Championship of cross country skiing 30 km, I could not say no.

I might not be up to date on the current skiers or the Norwegian favorites, but I do know how to cheer and make noise in the slopes and that was what I did. With the Norwegian flag, hot chocolate and warm clothes we dominated the championship and declared ourselves as winners of the cheering competition because even though it is fun to participate, it is always best to win.
