So for the first day off I went for a TAB round the Pentlands Hills and it was really enjoyable. Covered about 10kms carrying 10.5kgs over some interesting terrain. Snow managed to cover quite a bit of the high features but the low lying ground was still good underfoot and the going was good.
The weather was cold but fresh and the air made some of the features interesting to climb as your lungs were tested.
The most impotant thing when hiking around in temperatures and features like this is to make sure you have safety equipment and that you have the right stuff in your Bergen or pack incase the worst happens.
I always carry my RAB Alpine Microlight jacket in my pack as it’s small enough to carry anywhere and can make you warm really quickly. It a totally amazing but if kit and I have it where ever I go.
