The beauty of cities

//I grew up in a big city, with almost 75,000 people, and therefore never had the small-town-girl problems. I didn't necessarily feel stuck in where I was, because there was always somewhere new to go; it was more a sense of being lost.

With people walking up and down the streets it gave off a certain pulse that made the city feel alive. Car horns honking, bicycle bells ringing and people talking was the city's way of making its own music- we were all a big symphony simply playing the song called life. Everyone's lives reflected on one another.

Even though I grew up surrounded by tall buildings and a new place to go every week, I still craved something else. We all grow up looking for a certain thing, but maybe, in the end, we don't find that at all, but instead something much greater. I have ever since I can remember being fascinated by traveling and seeing the world. I quickly realized how important and special it is.

Every city has something new and different to offer, the question is just to find it.

Polly,
We are pretty much in the same situation. I grew up in a big city Makati (the busiest city in Manila, Philippines). Being a 'city girl', I'm a bit sick of the honking cars, tall building. This is reason why I also travel a lot. The farther the better. Beaches and mountains, and foreign culture excited me. It's like a breathe of fresh air. Thank you for sharing this! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way.
