I've wanted to jump on this ginger shot "trend" for so long now and I know that I'm late to the party, but here I am!
I finally found a recipe that works for me and for the past week or so, I've done my daily morning shot of ginger!
There are SO many recipes out there, most of them involve boiling the mixture for almost an hour, but I've managed to sneak my way out of that!
Ginger contains a myriad of good properties and should be good for so many things, among these; sore muscles, digestion problems, colds and just general health. Of cource I'm no expert and I can't really say whether it actually can cure everything or not - but now I'm trying it out for myself to see if it will make me feel any different. This time of year is always high season for colds because of the changing weather! So I thought Why not!
For the recipe I've been using you'll need the following:
- Between 200-250g of ginger (I used 200g)
- 2 medium sized lemons
- 2 limes
- 6 dl of water
- 1 spoonful of honey if you think that the shot needs something sweet. (I didn't use honey, because I love the taste of ginger as it is)
The shots are super easy to make, all you need to do is:
1 | Peel the ginger and cut it out in chunks.
2 | Mix all of the ginger chunks with half of the water in a blender and blend it for about a minute.
3 | Use a strainer to separate the liquid into a bowl
4 | Press the lime and the lemon in a citrus press and pour it into the bowl with the rest of the mixture.
5 | Mix in the rest of the water and voila! If you find the mixture too sour, now is the time to stir in some honey!
I didn't have any fancy glass bottles, so I removed the label from an empty bottle of white wine and poured the shots into that.
Keep the shots in the refrigerator and remember that they only last for about a week or 10 days!
