"It feels like it was yesterday I stepped on the plane from Stockholm all alone, leaving all I had ever known behind me. Looking back I remember how scared and nervous I was and how I didn't know what to expect at all of New Zealand. Now, in less than 2 months, I will be going back home with tons of memories: pictures, notes, souvenirs, videos and new connections all over the world. I will leave my friends and family to go back to my friends and family.
This year wasn't just a year of my life-time, it was a life in a year. Going on AFS is the best thing I could ever have done to myself. I have climbed mountains, I have screamed my lungs out at concerts, bungy jumped, seen glow-worms, eaten chip butties, gone skiing in the Southern Alps and even skydived. I have laughed, I have cried, I have prayed, I have made friends that feels just like a part of myself and I have gained a second family that I love just like my Swedish one. I've made memories that will last for my life-time.
I would like to dedicate these last 36 words to thank everyone that has been a part of my year. It's been a mean time. Aotearoa, this is not a goodbye – it's a see you later."
