An Introduction

The best investment you will ever make is in yourself.

I have become a strong believer of the importance and necessity of self-investment particularly over the last six months. Personally, there is no point doing anything that will not benefit your happiness and wellbeing. Despite the initial egotistical nature of this statement, this acts on many positive levels.

The amount of satisfaction received from wishing someone a good day, or even trying to support him or her through emotional hardship still amazes me.

I often catch myself saying to myself “now, how can I make this persons day better?” and I come to realise that by having this outlook on life and constantly working on improving the environment around me, I’m actually able to improve myself and my happiness whilst trying my best to have the same impacts on those around me. Not every day will be good, but there is definitely something great in every day.

Self-discipline and intrinsic motivation play a critical role in my lifestyle. I don’t feel like exercising every single day. I don’t even always feel like getting out of bed each morning, but I do so as I am now well aware of the positive impacts this will have on my day and my lifestyle.

Putting others first has always been a priority of mine, although I have now come to realise that this must be approached in a manner that works for you. Personally, I feel as if there is absolutely no point in putting someone else first if it comes at the expenditure of your own happiness, wether this in the level of a friendship or a relationship.

Don’t be afraid to be real. Your life isn’t yours if you’re constantly worried about the often harsh and critical judgements of those around you.

Don’t let yourself settle for less than you deserve. You know who you are, you know what you want; you know your potential. Nothing will work unless you do; so whatever your 100% is, give it!
