Summers in Virginia are hot and humid, just like they are all over the east cost. Personally, I don't mind the heat and the humidity. I love summer.
In fact, I love all seasons.
I like to look back on each season and think of the things I'll miss about it. Then I take a deep breath and start getting ready for what's next. Fall is a season of birthdays, both for myself and my oldest kid, so it's crazy busy. As far as summer, here's what I'm going to miss the most.
I get my oldest baby all to myself. During the school year, there are a ton of holidays that I have to split with his dad. As we've gotten older, we've become better parents and we're friendly and things go over pretty smooth.
This hasn't always been the case. But now that he's in school, I feel like I barely get to see the little guy I love so much. This is definitely the biggest thing I miss every year. He gets a little older and needs his mama a little less.
Nothing is better than cooking on the grill. Mine uses propane gas and I love it.
I throw on some veggie burgers for myself and some hot dogs for the boys and a bunch of veggies for all of us and we love it.
Both the baby and the big one love hot dogs cooked on the grill and I've been told that I did too when I was their age. The baby makes really cute faces and sounds when he likes something. He goes "MHM" and his face lights up and he looks at me like he's surprised. And he does it every single meal. It's adorable.
Regular Work Schedule
Sure, lots of people take vacation during the summer. So sometimes we're shorthanded. I can deal with that. We're always understaffed, so I'm kind of used to it at this point.
What really sucks is the winter time. There is bad weather and when the snow is coming down, we have to stay at the hospital, which is not a good time. I don't get to stay at home and hang out with my kids like other parents and this makes me sad because that's the kind of thing I think about when I'm trying to sleep in one of the lobby areas.
I like wearing really summery, light, flowy dresses on my days off. I've mentioned this before. Once summer is over, it's back to jeans and pants, which is unfortunate.
One of the things I'll miss the most is feeling comfortable in my clothes. I have a weird body shape and it's super hard to find clothes that fit.
Summer is a great season full of life and sunshine and my favorite place in the whole world: The beach.
I'll miss you summertime. I really will.
But not for long, because it's time to prep for a birthday party! This year, we're doing a cookout. It should be fun, because who doesn't love hot dogs on the grill?
