      Basically readathons

      lørdag, 15. august, 2020, 0:14 PM

I did the Basically readathon, where you have to read a book for 24 hours, and the book I choose was The House in The Cerulean Sea, and I loved it, was so cozy and magical.

      The prompt for the readathons.

Goal: Read a book that's been on your tbr forever. (Or just read whatever you want!) Takes place on the entire Saturday from midnight to midnight (your own timezone or you can follow mine - Amsterdam time)

The House In the Cerulean Sea by TJ. KLune

I really loved this book, it just felt so magical and wholesome. It is definitely one of those books that you pick up again and again cause it makes you feel good and warm inside. I just liked and loved everything about it, I love the character special the kids, the kids just were adorable, and funny. I liked the storyline, and the plot, and the world. The book made me want to be a part of that world.

      Recommendation:
Yes, it was cute and wholesome, it really made me smile a lot, so if you are in the mood for something cute and magical, then this is the book for you.

      The Reading Rush

      mandag, 3. august, 2020, 5:07 AM

      The Readathon

This is an overview on how many page I read through the week. I finished 4 books, even tho I original wanted to read 7 books. I read over 1468 pages, in 7 days, which is actually okay.

      The Challenges - Books

      The challenges:

✅ 1. Read a book with a cover that matches the color of your birthstone.

❌2. Read a book that starts with the word “The”.

      ✅ 3. Read a book that inspired a movie you’ve already seen.

✅ 4. Read the first book you touch.

✅ 5. Read a book completely outside of your house.

❌ 6. Read a book in a genre that you’ve always wanted to read more of.

❌ 7/ Read a book that takes place on a different continent than where you live.

A Cover That Matches The Color Of Your Birthstone

      The Extraordinaries by T.J.Klune
I read this book for the prompt "The color of your birthstone", and my birthstone is Garnet, since I'm born in Januar.

I loved this, it was so cute, both Seth and Nick was so adorable. I thought it was a contemporary when I picked it up but it was a fantasy and that just made me love it even more. A book about queer people and superhero, hell fucking yes. It was not how I expected it to be, but that just made me like it even more. I think I just adore every character in this book, and I'm looking forward to learning more about this word. It was everything I didn't know I need. I love Nick and Seth.

Recommendation: Yes, it was cute and funny and wholesome, and each time I thought i knew what was gonna happen the story changes.

Representation: LBGTQ+: Queer, Bisexual, Gay + Disability; ADHD + Ethnic; Black,

      Genre: Fantasy + Romance

      Superhero: 🦸‍♂️🦸‍♂️🦸‍♂️🦸‍♂️

      A Movie You've Already Seen

      Otherbound by Corinne Duyvis

I read this under the prompt "Inspired by a movie", and I read that it was inspired by Sense8

It was okay, I started reading this because I read somewhere that this has a bit sense8 in it, and it was inspired by it, and I was disappointed. To say that this was inspired by sense8 would be the same as saying "Harry Potter" was inspired by "Lord of the rings", just because they both have magical in their world. It was a disappointment.

I had trouble reading this, not because of the language or writing style, just because I found it a bit boring I think. Maybe my expectation was too high since I thought it would have som sense8 in it, and it didn't. I only think the book got interested when it hit almost 75% into the book. It was a bit boring too. I didn't really think that I got to understand Cilla so much, I didn't really like Amara so much, and I just pity Nolan a lot, mostly because it seems like Amara had no sympathy for what he been through in all the years. I was really not impressed with anything or pull into the story enough for me care to much about the story or the character until later in the book.

Recommendation: No, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, I didn't like it or enjoy it enough for me to want to recommend it for anyone to read it. Don't pick this up.

      Representation: LGBTQ+, Disability & Etchnicial

Trigger warning: It a bit dark, and there is abused in this book.

      Genre: Fantasy

      Diaries: 📚📚📚

      First Book You Touch

      Hayden by Lisa Helen Gray

Read this book under the prompt "First Book You touch", it was the fist one that spark joy for me.

I didn't like the dad, I thought he was kind of an asshole and arrogant. The concept he had with his boys was allowed to date and have sex but his girl wasn't was stupid. I hate that. He was childish and immature, and it wasn't cute. At All.

I did like Hayden, and Clayton, I loved their relationship and they were fun together, I special loved how Hayden didn't take any crap from her dad or any other men or people that talk down on her. I liked how Clayton acknowledge when he made a mistake and he reflected and learned from it.

Recommendation: Yes, I liked it, it had a light toon, and I end up laughing and smiley a lot because of some of the interaction and things that happen, so I can recommend it. It's standalone, so you can read it without reading the others.

      Genre: Contemporary + Romance

      Radio: 🎙️🎙️🎙️

      Outside Your House

      Finally by R.L.Mathewson

I read this under the prompt "a book outside the house", but I didn't read it outside.

I liked it. It was cute and funny. I love Charlie and Devon, and It really left a smile on me. I love the children to, Dustin & Abby. There isn't so much to tell for me, it was easy and to get caught up in the book, and I read it fast and love every minute of it.

Recommendation: Yes, If you want to read a book that makes you smile and laugh this book is it. The cuteness is overloading.

      Donut: 🥯🥯🥯

      ✅ 5. Read a desert vibe book

      Cozy With DesertAThon

The week that went by. This readathon was extendt by an extra week, I loved that cause that meant that I had extra time to finished all the prompt. Overall I loved this readathons, it was calm, and cozy and I loved the prompt. I had a cozy time while doing this. It is definity something I would love to do again in the future.

The Books I read & Reviews

      Warm Word In The Title

      Barbarian's Beloved by Ruby Dixon

I really liked this, as someone how struggles with anxiety, I could relate a lot to this, and I just found this book so relatable, and also so freaking cute. I love how good the Alien handle it even tho he didn't really understand it at the beginning but just was there to listen and learn.

I really loved that. It just shows you don't have to do the maximum to make a person with mental health hear, and I loved that. It's the small thing that counts. This was one of my favorites from this series. I love this book so much, how it managed to take a hard subject into a si-fi, and not making it too heave was wonderful, and beautifully done.

Recommendation: Hell fucking YES! Aliens, mental health, and love? what is there not to love?

Genre: Si-Fi, Mental Health, Romance, Fantasy & Erotic

      Breath: 🌬️🌬️🌬️🌬️

      A Flower On The Cover

The Bromance Book Club by Lyssa Kay Adams

I didn't think I would like this book. I end up liking it, loving it and adore it. I hate Liz, did not like her, I thought she was annoyed as hell. I did love the character development for both Thea and George, and I really loved how they face the truth.

I love how it was a book about marriage struggle cause often we only read about books where the single and then get marry and liv happy after all, but this was such a more realistic scene, and chapter that could happen for anyone, and I loved that. I also liked that it was men how to read those romance books and who talk about those things cause they realized how that can help learn.

Overall I really liked this book, cause I loved how everyone grew and realized their mistake. Realized that it takes two to tango, and not all the fault was either his or hers, but they both were wrong at some point.

Recommendation: Yes, pick it up if you want a fresh view on love.

      Genre: Contemporary & Romance

      Art: 🖌️🖌️🖌️🖌️

      A Book With Monster

      Willa's Beast by Ruby Dixon

I didn't like the main character that much, I remember thinking that she was a bit overreacting on how people were treating "the beast". I did find the book a bit funny when they said "bless your heart".. But overall I didn't really like the main female character, cause she was a bit overreacting in some scene. I'm surprised that I actually did like the male main character.

      Recommendation:
No, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, it was that good, but it was okay, the main character was annoyed, and overreacting

      Genre: Fantasy, Erotic & Romance

      Healing: 🧬🧬

      A Red Cover

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone By J.K Rowling

I read this for the first time, which was weird since I saw the movie when it came out, and I have read all the other books in this series. I never realized until I started reading it, that I never actually read the first book in this series, so that was fun, and it bought a lot of childhood memories.

I liked this book, of course, I found Hermonie to be a bit annoying, but I think that was the point, and I forgot how annoyed Harry's uncle was, and how Dumbolre just really wasn't there as much as I thought he was. He was a bit useless.

I did find the book a bit magical the way the explain the room in Hogwarts and it really has a way to make you feel like you are there with Harry Potter. I love how well things explained because Harry also didn't understand the world, so we were just there with him getting all the information as he did. It made it a bit more magical like you are a part of this world. I love of course the season Halloween and Christmas those were so cozy. I really really really liked this book. It really gave me a cozy vibe and feelings, and remind me a lot of my childhood. I loved it.

Recommendation: I recommend it if you like a book about a magical world and friendship and getting to know this world

Genre: Fantasy, Friendship, Middle grade, &Magic

      CheckMate: ♟️♟️♟️

      A Desert Vibe Book

      Veronica's Dragon by Ruby Dixon

This book was so fun, I laugh a lot. Veronica and Asthar were such fun. I loved their dynamic from the first page. I really don't have much to says about this then I love it. It made me smile a lot, and laugh a lot. There were different a lot of fun moments in this book.

Recommendation: Yes. If you want something light, and fun, and about dragon and alien, then yes pick it up.

      Genre: Si-Fi, Fantasy & Romance

      Fire: 🔥🔥🔥
