During Paris fashion week this summer, we all got to see the long awaited Louis Vuitton men’s SS19 collection, this was Virgil Abloh’s debut show as the new creative director for Louis Vuitton menswear. The news of the Off-White creator’s position in the world’s biggest luxury house had most of us jumping on couches, while some of us bit their fingers in angst. A different group of people, like myself, were doing a bit of both.
The year is soon coming to an end, which means that the collection is soon to have its official release in January.
Apart from the official release, the Louis Vuitton SS19 collection is having a limited release in the form of a pop-up shop in Mayfair, London. Attending the Mayfair pop-up requires booking at ticketing.louisvuitton.com which ends on the 25:th of this month. The exclusive pop-up features the concept of light prisms, vibrant colours and even a yellow brick floor inspired by The Wizard of Oz, just like a few of the pieces in the collection demonstrates.
Below is a first look at the Spring/Summer 2019 drop, the major elements in the collection consists of coloured chains, PVC material, statement accessories and the classic monogramed leather added to both older and new designs. The more standout pieces include a prismatic version of the classic Louis Vuitton duffle bag, the floral Dorothy windbreaker, the yellow brick floor sweater and pretty much all of the bigger bags.
