I had a small break from posting as a few of you may have noticed. The reason for this is what a lot of us with mental illnesses can relate to, season-changing depression. Realizing that summer is over and autumn, no matter how cozy, is just around the corner can be depressing on many levels. You might see sweaters, pumpkin spice lattes and curling up on the couch with your loved ones. I see darker days, unforgiving cold weather and energy levels which are already low - dropping. The drastic change from heat, brightness and joy to cold, dark and depressing can affect anyones mind, but us who suffer from depression take the hit a tad bit harder.
People talk about seasonal depression and regular depression but we don't really see any posts regarding how much the seasons changing affect us. It gets harder seeing the good things in life when you're surrounded by all those negative things. It's hard finding light in the dark. Possible, but hard.
You see, that is exactly why I've decided to bring this blog back to life approximately two months after going silent. Because slow progress is still progress. One post is still better than not posting at all. If you don't take that first step, you're never going to finish those stairs.
It's just another day of fighting for what I believe in, fighting for my goal, fighting for recovery. And if I can do it, so can you.
