Naqsh-e Jahan is one of the largest squares in the world. The name means ‘pattern of the world’ so beautiful. The Shah Mosque was built during the Safavid Empire, ordered by Abbas I of Persia.
The Masjed-e Shah was a huge structure, said to contain 18 million bricks and 475,000 tiles, having cost the Shah 60,000 tomans to build. Just to mention we are talking about handmade painting on every tile.
