Glad Lucia! Happy Lucia! Today, 13th of December is the day of St Lucia. It's a Christian tradition that is very big in Sweden and in the whole Scandinavia. We celebrate the Saint Lucia, a celebration for light in the coldness and darkness. As you might know Sweden is extremely dark in the winter, and around these days it is as dark as it will ever get during the year. Then it's important so spread light. Also in the context of the world with all its darkness, evilness and catastrophes it's important to focus on the good things, focus on the light, love and the things that makes us feel warm inside. It's a nice and very holy tradition. Maybe one of the holiest of all Christian traditions we celebrate here.
My mother sings in the oriotoria choir in the church two minutes walk from where we live. They needed a Lucia for their yearly Lucia performance so she asked me and I said yes. To be Lucia is a once in a lifetime thing. Even though it was tough to stand still for so long, to wear the light crown pressing in extremely hard on the head and feeling the dripping dreading burn your skin it was totally worth it. Really cool experience. The money went to an orphanage in Estonia. I'm happy that I could be part, and the main symbol for such a heartwarming event, sharing some positivity and light to hundreds of people.
