Stila Magnificent Metals

I received this beautiful trio of mini Stila Magnificent Metals in "Written in the Stars" as a Christmas gift and they are absolutely stunning! There is no doubt that these liquid eyeshadows have been one of 2017's most popular makeup releases and it's not difficult to see why. These eyeshadows are not only gorgeous but are also very easy to apply. Already, other brands are releasing similar products and I predict that glitter liquid eyeshadows such as these will be the trend of 2018.

On the Stila website the shades are described as:

  • Smoky Storm (light pewter and silver glitter) (2.25ml )
  • Kitten Karma (champagne, silver and copper glitter) (2.25ml )
  • Diamond Dust (sheer silver and multi-color glitter) (2.25ml )

I found Smoky Storm to be more of a bronze/taupe, although the glitter definitely makes the shade more pewter/silver. This colour is also more pigmented than I expected - at first I thought it was only going to be a glitter but this shade has a base pigment mixed in. I am definitely not disappointed though! This shade is the one I have reached for the most and it is absolutely stunning on the lid.

Kitten Karma is also more intensely pigmented than I expected, with a rich pink pigment. It is not as similar to Stila's famous Kitten eyeshadow as I thought it would be, yet again I am not disappointed by this. It is a gorgeous eye-catching pink that would suit anyone, although if you have green eyes it would definitely make them pop!

Diamond Dust does not have a lot of pigment to it compared to the other two in this trio, and is simply a liquid glitter. This is a perfect New Years Eve glitter and could even be used as a glitter liner if you used a small liner brush instead of the applicator. As this eyeshadow has less pigment to it, you may need more layers in order to reach your desired intensity.

Even though I love glitter, it can be labour intensive and difficult to apply - glitter glue is a necessity, and there is always fallout on the cheeks. These glitters, although not entirely fallout free, are so much user-friendly than other glitters I have previously used.

The doe foot applicator makes it very easy to apply onto the eyelids, especially if you want to carve out the crease of your eye, as the applicator has a nice rounded tip similar to a small flat shader brush. They can also be used as a highlight on the centre of the lid or even on the inner corners.

After using them a couple of times, I now have a technique to prevent a lot of the glitter fallout. I start by scraping off a lot of the product on the inside of the tube before applying, so that you only apply a very thin layer to start off with. Then after it has dried, I apply another thin coat and then continue to do so until I have reached the desired intensity. Although saying this, I have not felt the need to apply more than two layers, with a little more on the centre of the lid. The eyeshadows are blendable, but only when applied in thin layers so I would suggest using your fingers over a synthetic brush as it it easier to clean afterwards.

When removing my makeup, I have found it's easiest to first remove all of my makeup (excluding the eye makeup) using my normal micellar water and then use a cleanser to remove my eye makeup. This is the best method to remove glitter that I have found so far, otherwise I end up with glitter everywhere and I don't have to aggressively rub at my eyes. My eyes have never been irritated when wearing or removing these glitters. If you wear contacts like I do, make sure to take them out before removing your eye makeup in case you get glitter in your eyes.

This set retails for Β£25.00 on Cult Beauty and on stila.co.uk, the individuals retail for Β£23.00 (4.5 ml), so this set gives you more product for your money, and also allows you to try three colours instead of one.

I would rate this product 4.5/5, as its very easy to use and beautiful on the lids.
