Fenty Gloss Bomb Cream (Color Drip Lip Cream) part 2

      Saturday, 9 January, 2021, 3:05 pm

A couple of weeks ago I reviewed 2 shades from the latest gloss release from Fenty Beauty, click here to read that post. In that post I mentioned that I had been told not to buy all of the shades and here is why! I received two more shades from the range as a Christmas gift and I was so exited to try these out. The two new shades I got are Fenty Glow and Cookie Jar.

      shades

Fenty Glow is a cream version of their original shimmer lip gloss of the same name. It's a warm coral pink that is a good 'my lips but better' kind of shade. Out of all the shades I've tried from the range this colour is the most wearable for me. It applied very smoothly and there was no patchiness.

Cookie Jar is a deep warm brown-red. Although a fair amount deeper than my lip shade it applies pretty evenly (more than the shade Fruit Snackz). I actually found myself reaching for this shade more than the others for some reason. This can be sheered out a bit to make it more wearable on my skin tone, although I do like it at full opacity also.

      Formula overview

Top to bottom: Honey Waffles, Fenty Glow, Cookie Jar, Fruit Snackz

I won't go into as much detail here as I pretty much explained my thoughts about the formula in the first post where I tried two other shades. Again, I think as I don't have the most pigmented lips, the deeper colours can look a little bit patchy as there glosses are very pigmented and it can be hard to get an even layer.

      Final Thoughts

I'm very happy that I own these shades. I really love this formula and the colours are very pretty. Again, they require a bit more maintenance than their shimmery counterparts, but if you prefer a cream gloss I would recommend them. I really like these! Will you be picking up a gloss from this range?

      Thanks for reading!

Fenty Gloss Bomb Cream (COLOR DRIP LIP CREAM)

      Saturday, 19 December, 2020, 2:43 pm

Completely out of the blue around a week ago, Fenty announced that they were releasing cream versions of their cult favourite Gloss Bombs. If you've ever read any of my previous posts you'll know I absolutely love the original Gloss Bombs, so I knew I had to try the cream version. I ordered them from Boots right when they launched and I've been testing them out this past week.

      Shades

I decided to pick up two shades, Fruit Snackz and Honey Waffles. I did also like the look of Cookie Jar and Fenty Glow but I received hints from my boyfriend that maybe I shouldn't order them. So maybe there will be more reviews in the future, so stay tuned. The only shade I personally didn't love the look of was Mauve Wives, I think because there seems to be a white base to it and I just felt like it would wash me out a bit. However, now after seeing more pictures of them all and also because I am the queen of indecisiveness, I might actually want to own that one too.

Fruit Snackz is a berry red. It's the kind of shade I imagine Snow White to wear if that makes any sense. I'll most likely reach for this to layer on top of a berry lipstick.

Honey Waffles is definitely more of a wearable gloss. It's a warm orange with some brick-red and brown undertones on me. I feel like I'm going to reach for it a lot as it's such an interesting shade and I don't have anything like this in my collection.

      formula overview

First off I have to say that these are PIGMENTED. Honestly I was a bit shocked when I first applied them to my lips. I think I was expecting a more sheer coverage as the original formula is pretty sheer, however this formula did not come to play. As there is a lot more pigmentation I wouldn't apply these with reckless abandon, I think you'd need a mirror to apply these confidently. Again, I'm so used to the original formula and just being able to apply that to my lips without thinking, I wouldn't do that with these.

The day I did a wear test with Fruit Snackz, it wore off pretty nicely and I was left with a stained lip effect and it was actually a really nice colour. I will say with this shade in particular as it is pretty deep in tone I'd recommend using a lip liner. I personally don't own or use lip liners as my lips are so insanely sensitive. However I can see the merit in using one with this shade in particular. Again as it is so pigmented it can look a touch patchy, which isn't the fault of the formula, it's more due to the colour. So, if you have a berry toned lipstick it might be good to wear underneath this gloss. To suit my preferences, I've found applying a little bit and sheering it out works for me. I'm going to be wearing this a lot during this festive time but I'm already excited to use it next autumn.

I found Honey Waffles to work in a similar way, as in if you layer this it can a bit get patchy. While it's not as obvious as Fruit Snackz, again you'd most likely struggle to apply this gloss without a mirror. This wore off a touch more evenly, most likely because it's not as deep of a colour as Fruit Snackz.

The overall feel of these glosses is similar to the other formula, like a very hydrating lip balm feel and they are not at all sticky. The scent is also different, these still smells like sweets but this time I can't place exactly what the scent reminds me of. It is really nice though!

      final thoughts

If you've been curious about the formula of these, I'd recommend picking one up! They are lovely and comfortable on the lips. I hope to expand my collection of this formula soon! I would say though that it is important to keep in mind that these are quite pigmented, so I would advise you to be careful when applying these on their own and if you can maybe use a lip liner or lipstick underneath. Personally, I think I'll mainly be wearing these sheered out as I don't want to be worried about these moving around. I really like these!

Will you be buying any of these? Thanks for reading!

      Glossier Lip Gloss

      Saturday, 5 September, 2020, 2:25 pm

In recent years I have become a lip gloss addict, it is by far my favourite kind of lip product. However, I do expect a lot of from my lip products. I thought I'd brand out and diversify my lip gloss collection with a couple of glosses other people swear by. I picked up two glosses from Glossier a while ago, in the shades Red and Clear.

Just to preface my review; I have mentioned a couple of times, I have horrendously dry and sensitive lips, so I have to be super careful with products I use. I cannot stand plumping, minty or 'cooling' lip products; my lips just leave the chat. I'm left with irritated, flaky, cracked and sometimes bleeding lips. It doesn't look cute and it's painful. I'm still unsure of what ingredients I'm sensitive, or possibly even allergic, to (other than SLS). Hopefully those of you reading this don't have the same problem as I do, but either way just keep in mind that I have ridiculously high standards and what may work for you might not work for me and vice versa. Personally I am looking for something comfortable, moisturising and bonus points if it looks amazing on the lips.

I believe Glossier have 3 different shades, I only picked up two of them in the shades Clear and Red.

Clear has a slight pink sheen to it which I'm sure gives a tiny hint of colour on the lips but too be honest the name is accurate to the effect it gives on the lips. I can see a tiny, tiny amount of shimmer flecks but they're so small and they're a so few of them that it doesn't look shimmery on the lips at all, you have to really look for them to see them.

Red is a sheer red, The names aren't the most creative I know. I love how this looks on the lips, it gives a lovely hint of colour yet it doesn't look too sheer where you'd think it was just pink.

These glosses retail for £11 each, which I think is pretty reasonable. One interesting thing I noticed was that they contain different amounts of product. The shade Clear contains 4.2 ml, however the other shades only contain 3.5 ml. Maybe it's just the weight of certain ingredients but I'm unsure.

      swatches

As you can see from the lips swatch images, I did try these on a day where I had some dry, irritated patches on my lips. I thought about waiting a couple days to let them heal a bit more but I just decided to show how these lip glosses work on slightly irritated lips because thats just my reality most of the time (unfortunately).

      Formula overview

I'd describe this formula as having a gel texture, it has a kind of tacky feeling but it doesn't look sticky or stringy whatsoever. I found both of the glosses to be comfortable on the lips but I wouldn't go as far to describe as moisturising. I get that most people aren't really that bothered about that but I personally love when lip products moisturise my lips too, I love and 2-in-1 lip product.

While I didn't find them to be too irritating or drying, the formula didn't exactly wow me either. I think if you're looking for an overall good lip gloss you'd enjoy them, especially if you don't have dry lips like me.

      Final Thoughts

After wearing these a few times I think they're pretty good. I love their high shine finish and I like how moisturising and glossy these look on the lips. However, I will probably only reach for these on days where I feel like my lips are in relatively good condition. I was hoping they'd work the same way the Fenty Gloss Bombs work on me (check out my review on those if you're interested!) but I'm not sure I'll reach for them for the same reasons. Instead I'll probably use them the way they're intended to be used, in that they're simply a gloss and not a balm. For that reason I think I'll get more use out of the shade Red as it's got more pigment to it. If you like the sound and look of these glosses, check them out.

      Thanks for reading!
