If you happen to be in the makeup community you tend to be in one of two camps; you're either team ABH brow products or team Benefit brow products. I've tired both, but in recent years I have been in the Benefit camp. I have previously tried the Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pencil in the shade Medium Brown, which I had bought on a whim and I found it that shade to be too dark and slightly too warm on me. I then moved to purchasing Benefit brow products instead, hoping I would have better luck there. However I have always been curious about this product.
The Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow is a cult favourite product and is probably one of the brands most famous products. Before purchasing this I had never tried anything like it, so I wanted to see what all the hype was about and if it really was the game-changer people had described it as.
Formula Overview & Application
I'd never tried a brow pomade formula before and I was slightly intimidated at first. I did keep in mind that the founder, Anastasia Soare, has said that you should pick up a bit of product on your brush and then work it on the back of your hand to remove excess product. The first time I ever applied it I applied too much and you could definitely tell. After some trial and error, I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I tend to just fill in the gaps of my brows by created thin, hair-like strokes with a small angled brush. For me personally I find I only need product along the tail of the brow and slightly under the arch.
It last reasonably well on me but I didn't find it to be any more long lasting than a brow pencil, that might be because I have quite oily skin though.

comparison swatches & Colour
I've always found the shade of my brows to be quite cool toned, a lot more cool toned than my hair colour. I think this is the best match I have ever found for my eyebrows!
When I was trying to find comparison swatches between Benefit and Anastasia Beverly Hills brow products, I found it really hard to find what I was looking for so I thought I'd share how they compare. Benefit's shade range doesn't include many cool or neutral toned shades (shade 2.5 being one of the neutrals). This is painfully obvious when compared to the ABH shade in Taupe, which is described as a shade for 'blond hair with cool/ ash undertones'.
This product is amazing is you're after something that is long lasting and pigmented and don't mind spending some time on our brows. If you like drawing on precise hairlike strokes, this is definitely something to check out. For everyday its not the most convenient or time efficient but I feel like that might be more due that this product has a learning curve. It gives a lovely effect but can take some extra time when applying as you have to be a bit more careful how and how much you apply to your brows. I'm really glad I tried it as I have enjoyed having more control and precision with how my brows look.
