It's no secret that I've recently become a huge fan of Kaleidos eyeshadow palettes, I think their formula is incredible and I love the colour stories of their palettes. I'm also a huge fan of Angelica Nyqvist, she is one of my favourite YouTubers. If you've never heard of her and you're into colourful eyeshadows, you're missing out! She is exceptional a putting together colour stories and she is also very funny so definitely check her out if you haven't already. So imagine my excitement when I found out about this collaboration!
I was so ready to just purchase this immediately on release day but when I first saw this colour story I was a little underwhelmed, I have to admit that I wanted to purchase this out of FOMO. However, once I got used to the idea of the colour story, I ended up purchasing it in their restock. (I also picked up an extra one for my Instagram giveaway, hi Farnia if you're reading this!)
This inspiration behind this palette is essentially a nightclub in space, which is so out of the box and amazing. I feel like this colour story makes a lot more sense once you understand the theming. All of the names are sci-fi and video game themed which is cute but as someone who isn't really into those things, I don't get most of the references. I still think it's a cool idea though.
As I mentioned before, when I first saw this colours story I was a bit confused, as it felt a bit disjointed to me. I could see how the colours work in rows but at first it felt a bit limiting. It's also includes more neutral than what I was expecting from Angelica, I thought it would feel a bit more bright and vibrant. I have been more into colourful shadows recently so I was a bit unsure if I'd get use out of some of these shades. However, I've also been more interested in colour stories that feel a bit more challenging recently so I decided to buy this anyway. As time has gone on I've begun to appreciate this colour story more, I think it took some getting used to for my part and I think my original issue with this palette was just the way these colours are laid out in the palette.
There is a nice split between the mattes and shimmers in this palette, I personally prefer to have a couple more mattes than shimmers so this is pretty ideal for me. Also, love that she included 5 deeper, colourful mattes as I feel like there was a gap in Kaleidos colour range until this palette came out. I think I'll be reaching for this palette as a companion palette due to these shades.
For this look I used Red Giant in my crease, lower lashline and on the outer third of my lid. I then used some glitter glue on my lid and inner corner and then packed Nebula where I had placed the glitter glue.
I started this look by using Gravity in my crease and transition shade. I then noticed it looked a tiny bit too yellow-toned so I used a tiny bit of 7 of 9 to make it more green toned. I then took Queen of Blades to deepen my crease and also used it along my lower lashline. The I packed Firefly all over my lid and inner corner.
With this look I began by blending out Red Giant basically all over my crease and outer corner and lashline. I then packed the shade Astro all of my lid and used Nova as an inner corner highlight.
For this look I used 7 of 9 in my crease and along the lower lashline, blending it quite far out. I then deepened my crease and lower lashline using Void. I placed some glitter glue on my lid and inner corner, before packing Astro all over my lid and Nova on my inner corner.
To start this look I used Samus in my crease and along my lower lashline, then I took Red Giant to deepen those areas. I then packed Celestial all over the lid and inner corner.
I started this look by using Cylon in my crease and along my lower lashline and used a bit of Naaru to blend it out. I cut crease with concealer and packed on You're My Only Hope on my lid and inner corner.
For this teal look I started by using Gravity on the inner two thirds of my crease before taking 7 of 9 from the outer third and centre of my crease to create a teal green shade in the centre. I then used the shade Queen of Blades to add some depth to the outer corner and along my lower lashline. I added a combination of my crease shades on my lid before putting sown some glitter glue on the lid and inner corner area. I then placed Firefly all over where I had applied the glitter glue.
To start this look I used Naaru lower down in my crease than I normally would place it. I then used Rockhopper to wing out the outer third, creating a wing-like shape and connected it to the outer third of my crease. On my lower lashline I used a combination of Rockhopper and Void, blending it out with a little bit more of Naaru. On my lid and inner corner I used Nova.
If you have been reading my posts since the beginning of this year you'll have seen my reviews of a couple of Kaleiodos' eyeshadow palettes and (spoiler alert) I fell in love with the formula. I really love both the Kaleidos matte and shimmer formula and this palette is just more evidence of that.
All of the mattes in this palette blend impeccably and as far as I can tell, they're the same formula as the other shadows in their range. Even the deeper shades blended out really nicely on their own, although as with any deeper shades they take a little bit longer to blend out. Queen of Blades stained a tiny bit, both when I swatched it and wore it on my eyes. However I just cleansed wherever I had placed that shadow once more and it pretty much went away but that being said I've not yet worn this shadow for longer than maybe 6 hours.
These shimmers are, of course, absolutely breathtaking. Angelica loves a good sparkly shimmer shade and these all perform so nicely. Nebula is the least intense shade but still looks incredible so that says a lot. The rest of the shimmers are the typical Kaleidos topper formula which adds so much versatility as you could layer them nicely over the mattes in this palette. I usually use a glitter glue with formulas like this as I find it can help to minimise fallout but on the occasions I didn't use a glitter glue these shimmers were still incredibly sparkly and magical.
I found these shadows lasted well on the eyes, although I didn't wear these shadows for longer than 8 hours so I can't speak on how they'd last after that.
I am so happy I decided to purchase this palette, as it's a delight to work with. The formula is perfect, the colour story is so different from anything I've seen before and inspiring while still being user-friendly. This is a palette for those of you who love colour but don't need another rainbow palette in your collection. I think I'll be reaching for this palette pretty much year round, both as a companion palette as well as just to use it on it's own. Angelica absolutely killed it and again I'm so happy I own this palette.
This palette is currently sold out on the Kaleidos website and I'm unsure if it will restock ever again. If you missed out on this palette then I'd suggest keeping an eye on Kaleidos social media pages or even contacting them, as I remember hearing they were planning on the last restock being the last one.
Did you buy this palette? Let me know!
Thanks for reading!
