      Dose of Colors Friendcation Palette

      Saturday, 28 November, 2020, 2:00 pm

This is a palette I have really liked the look of for a long time. I have tried some shadows from Dose of Colors before and I really loved their formula so I thought I'd treat myself to this palette a while back as a reward for getting through the semester in school. I have waited to review it until now because I had so much content I wanted to post first, so I'm very excited that I was able to start using it for this review!

This 10 pan palette is a collaboration with Desi Perkins and Katy from LustreLux on Youtube. While I don't follow either of them anymore, I was still really happy that they got to create this collab. This palette contains mattes, shimmers as well as some shades in the Dose of Colors Block Party formula. I loved the colour story and knew I'd love the formulation of theses shadows so I went for it!

      Swatches

Basic is a very light, peach-toned beige matte

Cheens is a deep, slightly warm toned matte brown

Necessary is a light, warm toned brown

Dirty Money is a deep shimmery golden-olive green with flecks of gold shimmer

A Moment is a shimmery blue to indigo duochrome with a black base

Try Me is a medium warm pink-red metallic shimmer

Just A Kiss is a light, peachy-champagne shimmer

Girl Bye is a warm red matte with pink undertones

Churro is a a warm, medium brown

Game Over is a black matte with flecks of silver and blue micro glitter

      Looks

For this look I started with Churro in the crease and deepened with some of Cheens. I then took a combination of the two shades down on the lower lash line. I then packed on A Moment all over my lid and finally as my inner corner hihglight I used Just A Kiss.

I started with Churro as a transition shade and Cheens to deepen the crease. ThenOn top of some glitter glue I applied Dirty Money on lid and on the centre of the lower lashline. The inner corner highlight is the shade Just A Kiss.

I started this look using the shade Girl Bye in my crease and lower lashline, using a tiny bit of Basic to blend out edge. I then took Girl Bye on my lower lashline. On the lid I applied glitter glue and then packed on A Moment with Try Me layered on top to create a purple shade. Then I applied Just A Kiss as my inner corner highlight.

For this look I started by creating a wing using a black eyeliner and took that in to around the outer third. I then took A Moment from my inner corner to the outer third. Then on that outer third I applied Game Over on top.

For this look I started by applying Necessary a transition shade before Cheens in the crease and packed all over my lid. I then took Cheens along the lower lashline and used Necessary and to smoke out lower lashline. I then packed Game Over on the lid and used some of Cheens to blend out the edge between the lid and crease. Again I used Just a Kiss on my inner corner.

I wanted to see if I could get a very neutral, everyday look with this palette so I used Necessary in the crease and lower lashline. I took Churro to deepen the outer V and packed Just A Kiss on my lid on top of some glitter glue. Then finally I used Just A Kiss as my inner corner.

For this look I used Girl Bye in my crease and packed it on the outer third of my lid. I then also took that same shade down on my lower lashline. I applied glitter glue on my lid before packing on Try Me on the centre of the lid and out to the outer third. Then I took Just A Kiss on the inner third of my lid and finally on inner corners to highlight.

      Formula Overview

I really love Dose of Colors eyeshadow formula. The mattes are incredibly user friendly and easy to blend out. Typically I don't feel like I can pick up a medium or deep eyeshadow and just blend it out, I basically always need a transition shade as I'm so pale. However the Dose of Colors formula is so blendable that I hardly ever reached for the shades Basic and Necessary because I didn't feel like I needed to use them every time. They all performed really well and are so lovely to work with.

I've heard these shimmers are their Block Party formula (you can get them as single shadows) and I was really happy with how they performed. Try Me is I think the only shade that isn't this formula but I like how that one performs too. They're all spectacular shades but I also really enjoyed how good they look layered on top one another and how easily you could blend them together too. It makes this palette so much more versatile.

      Final thoughts

I really love this palette! The colour story isn't 100% perfect for me but it's so close that it doesn't matter. On the one hand it's incredibly versatile because of all the colourful shimmers but the mattes make it very neutral. I think if one of the more basic beige or brown tones was replaced with maybe an olive green matte I would have considered this palette perfect but I have shades like that in my collection so I could just use what I have.

I think it's great if you like doing deep and sultry looks, it's prefect for if you like a smokey eye! I really enjoyed playing with this palette and I love that you're able to combine the shimmers together to create custom shades. If you've been on the fence about this palette I think you should definitely go get it, now is a great time to pick this up as I'm sure it'll be on offer in the Black Friday sales.

      Thanks for reading!

KVD Go Big or Go Home Mascara

      Saturday, 21 November, 2020, 2:00 pm

About a year ago, KVD Vegan Beauty cut ties with the founder of the brand after she had been in a lot of controversies. While the founder still was still involved with the brand I had no intentions of purchasing anything from the brand. After the company and founder went separate ways and underwent a rebrand, I decided it was ok to purchase from the brand again.

I have loved the KVD Tattoo liner for a while now, at the time of purchasing this, I was unsure where the brand would be stocked in the future. I had bought a duo set of an eyeliner and this mascara because it was the only way I could get hold of the liner. Since then, this mascara has been lying in my drawer, untouched. I thought I'd give it a try and see how it wears on me.

      Application

Lashes before and after applying the KVD Go Big or Go Home mascara

On initial application I found it to be very pigmented but somewhat clumpy and spidery looking. It definitely didn't look natural on the lashes, which is not my personal preference. I really liked how it looks on the lower lashes but I'm not sure if I like how it looked on the upper lashes. It was pretty easy to apply and the wand wasn't overly big for my slightly smaller eyes.

      Wear time & formula

The main claim of this mascara is that it is volumising, which is something I usually don't tend to go for. I usually look for something lengthening that can hold a curl, so I was curios to see how it wore on me.

This mascara claims to last all day long and I have to say it wore pretty well. After a couple hours of wear I noticed the curl of the lashes had dropped ever so slightly, which is not really that surprising because my lashes pretty much do that which any mascara that I wear. It was definitely not as bad as some others I've tried but not revolutionary.

Also, I did notice after about 10 hours of wear that it had flaked off slightly. I usually don't wear makeup for that long anyway but I just thought I'd share that as that might be a criteria for some.

Lashes immediately after applying the mascara and after 12+ hours of wear

      Final Thouhgts

Overall I think that this mascara is decent. I'm not in love with it personally but thats probably more due to that it doesn't fit my preferences in mascara in general. It was wore pretty well and I have to say I like how pigmented it is. I think it may be the blackest mascara I have ever tried. Because of that, I can see myself using this one days when I know I want to apply false eyelashes, as I think it may help blend together because of the depth of the pigment.

If you prefer a volumising mascara and you're not overly concerned about 10+ hour wear time, this may be one to try out!

Have you bought anything from the brand since the rebranding? Thanks for reading!

      Black Friday Wishlist 2020

      Saturday, 14 November, 2020, 2:00 pm

It can be super easy to overspend during Black Friday when you see really good deals so I made a list of all the things I'm considering buying during the sales. This way I can try to avoid making purchases purely because they are a 'good' deal,

      pat McGrath Lust Glosses

      Photo taken from patmcgrath.com

Recently I have been reaching my Pat McGrath gloss a lot, to the point that I've almost used it up! I love this gloss formula a lot, it's so comfortable and feels so luxurious. I think I'll pick up some more in this formula as well as a replacement for the one I've almost finished.

      Terra Moons single shadows

      Photos taken from terramoonscosmetics.com

I've wanted to shadows from TerraMoons for a while now but I wanted to wait until their Black Friday sales as a lot of shadows I want to buy are quite expensive and it adds up quickly. I'm most interested in their iridescent chameleons as well of some of their standard duochromes. Right now I'm trying to compile a list of shadows I want to buy and hopefully there will be some good discounts.

      zoeva 237, 238, 240 eyeshadow brushes

      Photos taken from zoevacosmetics.co.uk

As I have slightly hooded eyes I usually reach for smaller brushes to have more precision when doing eyeshadow. I've noticed that these work really well when I want to place eyeshadow down with more precision. I have been reaching for these brushes a lot and I think it might be good to have multiples of them as they're basically always dirty. As I'm quite lazy and don't like having to wash my brushes more frequently I thought I'd pick up some extra of these brushes.

      Empty Magnetic Palettes

      Photos taken from anastasiabeverlyhills.co.uk

Along with buying more single shadows, I have to get something to store them in. I like these empty palettes from ABH, they have a very strong magnet in them so eyeshadows are super secure in these. They also are the perfect size to stand in IKEA Alex drawers which is a plus. I don't love that the glitter on the outside packaging isn't encapsulated so thats the drawback of these palettes for me, they feel kind of rough to the touch. But to the honest I don't mind all that much.

      beautyblender SOLID Cleanser

      Photo taken from cultbeauty.co.uk

If you have ever tried and failed to get foundation out of your brush when you're cleaning it, this product really is the answer to your prayers. I've gone through 2 already and I hate the fact I need to repurchase it because it's way too overpriced. That's why I've been holding out to buy this until the Black Friday sale. I'm thinking of buying the big size which usually retails for Β£40 which is so much money, I'm hoping to at least get 25% off if not more.

      charlotte tillbury contour wand

I've been curious about this product for a while. I really like the Charlotte Tillbury Hollywood Flawless Filter and use it most days I'm wearing makeup. As I like the way that product performs I'd like to try this one out too. It's not overly expensive but as I'm unsure of it I've not bitten the bullet yet.

      natasha denona palettes

      Photo taken from cultbeauty.co.uk

I'm not sure I'd buy any of these as they are so expensive! I know that last year Natasha Denona had a 30% off her palettes for Black Friday but even then I'm not sure I could go through with it. I've been lusting over the Gold palette for ages now as I love murky greens and warm mustard tones. The Star palette didn't receive the best reviews when it launched but I have since heard the formula has been updated and it's way better now. This was the first palette that I saw from the brand that I was really drawn to and I have to say I'm still really attracted to the colour story. The mini Star is quite cute and contains some of the colours I'm most interested in. It's not that expensive either so it's a bit more realistic of a purchase for me.

      false Eyelashes

I've been more experimental with my eye looks this year and along with that I've wanted to try out more false eyelashes. As I have hooded eyes, I find a lot of falsies don't suit my eye shape so in the past I've not always had the best of luck finding styles that are flattering. I thought that in the years sale I'd buy quite a few and then figure out what I like on myself. Right now I'm still unsure of which ones I'll get but I'm planning to pick up a fair amount.

What's on your Black Friday wishlist? Thanks for reading!
