I've been using the same brow gel for years without ever really feeling the need to branch out. However recently I've been looking for something that had a stronger hold, as my brow hairs can be a little unruly.I researched a little online and quite a few people seemed to enjoy using the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Gel, so I decided to purchase their mini size which is 2.5g of product. The mini retails for £9 which I think is pretty reasonable considering the full size is 8g for £23.
I purchased the Clear gel as I prefer filling in my brows before and then setting them with a clear product as sometimes I can find it looks a bit too harsh on my face if I use a coloured gel after already filling them in.
The applicator is a nice size for my brows and I felt like I could get a decent amount of control when applying product. The scent of the product actually kind of reminds me of paint when it's wet but the scent disappears when it dries. The formula feels very wet when first applied and dries within a couple minutes, which allows some time to tidy up any sections you're not completely satisfied with. After those few minutes, the brow gel sets in place and remains in tact until you remove your makeup.
Once it's dried the texture feels almost like hairspray or hair gel for your brows. When removing it at night it feels almost crunchy in the brows. I know some people may hate that but if your brow hairs are anything like mine you might like that fact that it feels like these have been 'glued' in place.
Directly after applying brow gel and after 12 hours of wear
I first applied the ABH brow gel at around 8.45am. On the day I took these wear test photos I actually had a migraine (very on brand for me) so for most of the day I was either sitting or lying on my sofa. I checked on my brows once throughout the day and didn't really notice anything of importance, they looked pretty much like they did after I'd first applied the brow gel.
With previous brow gels I would have to reapply brow gel throughout the day depending on what I was doing, but with this one I find it's so long lasting that I don't have to think about my brows before having to remove them when I take my makeup off in the evenings. Also at one point I actually fell asleep too so I can confirm that this brow gel is in fact nap-proof. The second picture was taken sometime around 9pm.
I've really enjoyed using this brow gel! I think this is great for those of us with unruly brow hairs who want something to really tame them and keep them in place. It may not be for everyone though, so if you're unsure of whether or not you'd like it based on how strong the hold is, I'd recommend buying the mini size and trying it out. Personally, it fits my criteria for a brow gel so I can see myself using this up before repurchasing it again in the future, I'm very impressed so far.
