      Jouer Powder Highlighter

      Wednesday, 31 January, 2018, 1:47 pm

This is a product I have had on my wish-list since I heard Youtuber NikkieTurorials rave about it. I was lucky enough to receive it as a birthday gift from my boyfriend. It is a gorgeous warm gold highlighter that adds a subtle sheen to your cheekbones.

Although I find it comparable to The Balms Mary-Lou Manizer, I find Jouer Citrine to be slightly lighter and warmer (although Citrine looks darker in the pan). It is also ever so slightly smoother. Even though I don't find that Mary-Lou overly emphasise any texture, I find Citrine gives me a smoother look.

However I find that Mary-Lou wears longer on the skin, so in the future I will try to apply more of Citrine to increase the wear time.

Top: Jouer Citrine (very lightly swatched with finger)

Bottom: The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer (very lightly swatched with finger)

The Balms Mary-Lou Manizer weighs 8.5g retails for £16.00 in Debenhams, Jouer Citrine weighs 4.5g and retails for £19.00 on BeautyBay.

I would recommend both highlighters, although based on the price per gram and the amount of wear-time, Mary-Lou is the winner of this round.

      YSL Volupté Tint-In-Balm

      Sunday, 21 January, 2018, 3:45 pm

I have always admired Yves Saint Laurent's beautiful packaging from afar, never thinking I would ever take the plunge and actually by something from the brand. However the January sales presented me with a opportunity to treat myself, after much back and forth I must add, I finally decided to go for it.

As someone who has dealt with chronically dry lips for a few years now, I find myself hesitating to try new lip products. I always opt for the moisturising formulas and even then I make sure to be careful and always have lip balm on hand in case my lips begin to feel dry. This product is pretty much everything I look for in a lip product, it's pretty to look at, comfortable on the lips and gives me a bit of colour to liven up my face.

The colour I picked up is 11 Play Me Fuchsia, an everyday cool-toned pink.

My lips before applying anything on them, then after application of the YSL Tint-in-Balm

I found this lip balm lasted somewhere between 3-4 hours (that is when I wasn't eating or constantly drinking), which is normal for any kind of lip balm. It is not the most moisturising lip balm I have tried, I am I die hard fan of Elizabeth Arden's Eight Hour Cream and if my lips get particularly bad this is what I turn to. However, this is a great hybrid if you want some slight colour and and moisture.

I purchased this lip balm for 188 SEK (roughly £16.80) from the Feelunique website. It usually retails for £28, so I think that was a pretty good deal. (I should also add that its is currently on sale on the Feelunique.com at 15% off)
