I've been blogging for years and years and years. Not as a serious thing, but just because I really enjoy it. Especially now, living abroad, I love being able to share my daily adventures, thoughts and dreams with family and friends. So now that I'm about to enter a brand new chapter of my life, I feel like it's time to sort of start over with this whole blog thing too. I have been really bad at updating my old blog (nameless.blogg.se) lately, the passion just haven't been there, and I also want to give this a try in English since it's pretty much my main language nowadays. So, here it is, my new blog: Jo's Journal!
So who am I? I'm Jo, I'm 22 years old and spent most of my life living in Sweden. When I graduated high school, I went straight to university to study law, but I realized quite quickly that it wasn't for me. So after the first semester, I decided to go on a study leave. Found a job as an au pair, bought a one way ticket to Amsterdam and here I am, a year and a half later, still living in the Netherlands. A few months back I moved to Utrecht to work for a new family, but in August I will move back to my favorite city in the world, Amsterdam, to attend Hotelschool The Hague. I am beyond excited about that and I promise I will tell you more about it, but I think we'll leave it for another post.
Other than my obvious love and passion for traveling and experiencing new cultures, what I love the most in life is my family and friends. The hardest part of living here has definitely been having to be away from my family, but I am also forever grateful for the friends I've made here that have become like my little Dutch family. On my days off I like to try to see as much as possible of the Netherlands. It's such a small country so getting around doesn't take long at all and there are so many great cities to see besides Amsterdam: Leiden, Den Haag, Maastricht, Gouda... Just to mention a few of my favorites so far. Even though I live in Utrecht currently, I do spend a lot of my weekends in Amsterdam with friends. And I'm not going to deny it, I am not the first to say no to a little party. I love going out with my friends, wether it's for a beer at a cozy bar or to dance until the sun is up at one of our favorite clubs. Apart from that, music is a big passion of mine. I love to sing and I try to play the guitar. I say try, because it's been years and I never really improve. Oh, and I do try to learn Dutch, but let me tell you: It's a struggle.
As for who I am as a person, that's always a difficult one to explain. I am the kind of person who always talks a little bit too much and laughs a little bit too loud, but I would say that's also sort of my charm. Or maybe that's just an excuse I tell myself to keep talking non-stop. Most of the time I'm very positive and energetic, I am loving life so much right now and I am always up for a new adventure. I am really bad at saying no, I'm almost always late and I am probably the messiest person you'll ever meet, but on the other hand I am also very caring, I put my family and friends first and to be honest, I think I'm pretty great to be around. Actually, I'm a blast. The rest? I guess you'll just have to stick around and you'll find out.
