It's been nearly a month since I wrote something here. I guess I've just been too cought up with life. I turned 24, started school again, celebrated Kingsday, my brother came to visit, my sorority hosted our annual party, a friend from my internship stayed with me for a few days, I celebrated Liberation Day here in the Netherlands and yeah, as you can probably tell, I've been keeping busy. But there's so much to tell, I don't want to squeeze it all in to one post. So let's start with the most recent! On Thurday evening, the day after our big sorority party, my friend Carlotta and I decided to go get some hangover pizza. I discovered this place called La Perla a couple of weeks ago after a recomendation from an Italian girl, and honestly, how did I not know about this place before?! I've always been complaining that it's basically impossible to find good, genuine, Italian pizza in Amsterdam. But this, this is the real deal! Seriously. And even better, I got to still my spritz cravings finally.
Enough about pizza. Minus the hangover, it was just one of those great evenings. We sat outside, watching people pass by and discussing the happenings of last night's party. Walking back to our bikes after dinner, I just had one of those moments where I could not get enough of the beauty of this city. I had to stop by every bridge and just take it all in. There's not much like the evening sun painting the Amsterdam canals golden. This city. I really needed a reminder of what an amazing place this can be. Living abroad is definitely not always easy, and I think it's important to sometimes just stop and remind yourself why you're here and what made you stay in the first place. Anyway, if you ever feel like getting the best pizza Amsterdam has to offer, La Perla is the place to go! It's located on Tuinstraat, close to Westerkerk and the Anne Frank house in the Jordaan area. Promise you won't be disappointed!
