About one year ago, my family and I went to Rome for a weekend together. I remember telling them: "One day I could really see myself living here, just for a few months or a year or so". I completely fell in love with the city. The beautiful architecture, the loud colorful personalities, the modern mixed with the thousands of years old buildings, the delicious food, the amazing vibe. Rome completely took me by surprise and stole my heart. Now I have applied for an internship there. I am so curious to hear back from the hotel. Just the thought of me maybe living in Rome in just a few months puts butterflies in my belly and speeds up my heart. And to get to work in a luxury hotel, put what we're learning here to use. Get experience and insight. Then again, maybe I won't get it. But then there's a ton of other options. Barcelona, Prague, Budapest, London... I could go wherever I want to. It is such an exciting feeling and I can't wait to get to live somewhere else for a bit, explore another city, learn a new language, breathe different air and laugh with different people. Call another place home, become a local somewhere new.
I have had such a great weekend! I have said it a million times here already (or at least 20), but I am so happy about this spring weather. It puts me in such a great mood. Anyways. Friday I was off from school early, so I ran some errands and met up with Josefine for a bit. Later in the evening she came to campus, we had some drinks and got ready together before biking to Rosanne. She had her birthday this week and it was time to celebrate! Had a great night and danced til the morning in Supper Club.
Josefine stayed over at my place on Friday, so Saturday we forced each other out of bed and decided to go out and enjoy the sunshine. We went to AH, bought everything we felt like and set up a huge picnic in Vondelpark. Chilled there for hours, just enjoying the amazing weather. When the sun started hiding befind the trees, we went up to Leidseplein and decided to go see a movie. We watched Hidden Figures and all I can say is watch is!! Went home afterwards and went to bed before midnight, which has not happened for a long time.
On Sunday I slept until 11:30 (so good!) and then I met up with Milla, who was one of my first friends here in Amsterdam. We hadn't seen each other for half a year, so it was really great to catch up to some brunch and GT's. After we said goodbye I rolled on in to the city and Museumplein, where I waited a while for another friend. She was here on vacation from Sweden and asked if I wanted to go for a coffee and of course I did, so we sat down in the sun at a café in Vondelpark. Had a lot of catching up to do, considering we haven't met for five whole years. Her and I met when we were both doing a highschool exchange in the U.S. and I can't believe it's been more than half a decade since then. Anyways, that was my weekend. Pretty great, huh?
The weather has been amazing this week! A bit cold, a bit windy, but so sunny! I absolutely love it. There's flowers popping up everywhere and the parks are starting to fill up with people. The other take I took a two hour walk to enjoy it. Walked through Rembrandtpark which starts two minutes from school, then on to the southern entrance of Vondelpark, through the park and up to Leidseplein. From there I walked through Spui and Dam and down to Central station where I picked up my bike and biked home. It was so nice.
I'm already done with classes for the day, so I'm going to put my running shoes and go for a jog to enjoy the weather today as well. Then I need to get some schoolwork done. Oh, speaking of school, I found out I passed my research report today! Not with a great grade, but so happy to have passed. Anyway, hope you're all having a great Thursday, almost weekend! I'm going to get off the couch and go enjoy the sun.
