So I'm back at school now and let's be real it's hard to eat healthy here. As far as off campus, there are so many great places downtown that are very healthy. American Flatbread is a place I actually used to go to a lot. I went back the other night with friends and i forgot just how great it is. Also Skinny Pancake has amazing crepes and there is one on campus. I had the one with squash, goat cheese, apples, and spinach and it was soooo good. Highly recommend :)
Out of every city I've been to, NYC is probably my favorite. I love cities because there are so many people and I just find it amazing that in such a condensed area there are so many different lives being lived. Different personalities, cultures, lifestyles, jobs. The anonymity of it, yet the closeness. It's very interesting.
Kelly who's pretty much my little sister, took me to a vegan yogurt place over in Union square. I was a little skeptical at first but I can say it was so good! Being open to trying new things is a huge part of life. So don't be afraid to try something new :)
Today was a really good day. Drove to the ocean with my mom. The ocean is a really special place to me because it's where I met my boyfriend who sadly died 2 years ago. The ocean is probably my favorite place to be on this earth. Something about the openness of it and how beautiful and free it is. The ocean goes forever, it is endless. I guess kind of like love for a person, for him. Anyways, it was freezing today! Probably 10 below but it was worth it anyways. I love the ocean in the winter because it's so peaceful. The sand is untouched, the sky is clear and all you can hear is the wind and the waves lapping the shore. When we walked out onto the beach there was a heart drawn into the sand and above it was written "love wins". I think there is nothing more true. Even through good and bad, there is love and love wins. Of course not everyday is easy. But there is always love and i think it's very important to be surrounded with positivity. Surround yourself with positive people and don't forget to love yourself as well because then people will love you too, for who you really are. Even though I lost him, I have gained so many good people in my life. I have gained another sister and another family. I have gained loving, caring friends. Through every bad experience there is something good that comes out of it. Love does win and always will. #love
So this would be one of my everyday looks. It's simple, comfortable and warmmm. Of course it's winter and it's freezing out so warmth is definitely a must, as far as fashion. Just any pair of jeans works with this outfit. I honestly like wearing jeans in the winter much better than leggings because i feel like they are so much warmer to wear. A nice sweater is always a go to. Neutral colors are essential to any wardrobe. If you start with just a pair of jeans and a plain neutral sweater you are able to accessorize and add color to your outfit in other ways. The green coat goes well with the grey and light wash jeans. J Crew coats are really nice, not super expensive and last long. The shoes are Diemme. I loveee these shoes because they are stylish yet warm. They are really comfortable, good in the snow or just on the street. You can dress these shoes up or dress them down. Cole Haan makes a similar shoe. Of course the grey shoes match the great sweater. I personally am a big fan of matching shoes with my tops. Next is the bag. I chose orange mainly because it's one of my favorite colors for fashion and it adds a nice pop of color. The scarf can be found anywhere, a simple scarf that has some grey and orange in it and ties the outfit together. Of course the outfit can go without the scarf as well. And finally, my absolute favorite pair of sunglasses, ray ban round. I love these because they look great with any outfit and they are great for people with a heart shaped face. Overall this is an inexpensive look, it's warm and can be dressed up or dressed down. One of my faves!
First blog post I am super excited! A good healthy breakfast is very important to starting your day. A favorite of mine is avocado toast. I usually just take any type of bread (but I really prefer whole grain), toast it. Cut up an avocado and mash it. I hard boil eggs and slice them and place it on top, as well as add salt and pepper for flavor. I am super excited to be starting this blog and hope you all enjoy it as well!
