HIM was one of the first bands I “found” by myself. Before that I would listen to what my mom listened to (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Whitesnake, Michael Jackson, etc) or what my friends were into at the time (Enrique Iglesias, Britney Spars or some rappers I didn’t even liked), but as soon as I discovered MTV, Viva, VH1 and other music channels I started exploring my own taste in music. I remember seeing HIMs Join Me in Death video and being taken both by the song (musically, lyrically I’m pretty sure I didn’t understand a word, haha) and the scenery. I still remember that I thought it looked so mysterious with snow and pale men in black clothes. Looking back, I think my adoration of pale men must have come from seeing Interview with the Vampire on TV, a movie that I was probably too young to see... but I loved it anyway! I still do actually, probably the best vampire movie ever made.
Anyway, HIM was a band that I never forgot, listened to from time to time and I even saw them live a couple of times. I’m pretty sure that Ville Valo was one of my first metrosexual crushes as well, haha. When I heard that they were quitting I really wanted to see them play one last time, and fortunately I even got to snap some pictures of them!
