Heyy! This is all about us millennials so it's gonna be 🤳🥑☕ And please do not take this post too seriously.
We have heard so much about the fact that millennials are lazy, full of themselves, only know how to make avocado toast but not how to adult so I turned each negative argument over in my head and noticed that some are true and some just misunderstandings so let me explain to you what those misunderstandings are and actually why some "millennial things" aren't as bad as they seem. Even if I'm born 1997, I still count myself as a millennial because my experiences growing up are the exact ones listed for millennials. Anyways here it goes - what millenials really mean.
"Millennials only work when they like and with within the field that they like"
What millennials really mean (=WMRM):
It's important to make a good choice when choosing what you'll do for the rest of your life so you better do something you actually like in the long term. I bet many millennials have had jobs they didn't like but regarding the entire career we understand that it's better for the well being of the entire work place that people enjoy being there. Since we also happen to have a choice then why not make it our choice? And to all those who feel like they never got to choose their job then we happen to believe it's never to late to try.
Regarding working hours many of us say "don't like the 9 to 5". This has many non millennials confused. It doesn't mean that we never want to work but it simply means that we know that we are able to work anywhere and at any time due to our best buddy: technology. Millennials are the first generation that at a large understands how the working environment has changed from a set schedule to a "be your own boss" way of living. Of course this way of working isn't suitable for everyone and I've seen many millennials who tried being their own boss and still ended up working for someone else due to the fact that freedom in work can be a challenge too great to handle.
"Millennials don't make official phone calls"
WMRM: Why call someone when you never know what they are doing? Not many people sit at the office for a certain amount of hours/day anymore. Therefore, there are not so many hours for making official calls. So instead of being rude we organize via email at first and suggest a time to make a call. Also did you guys forget video calls? We are experts at video calls, I mean you can even do a successful job interview over a video call or a lecture at uni, been there done that and it works out well. Also nobody has to pretend how much they love attending a physical meeting when it can be done over Skype.
"Millennials are too selfish"
WMRM: We are sorry to hear that you think self love is the same thing as being selfish. It is a fact that people should take care of themselves and that is not a selfish thing to do, in fact a happy and healthy person does more good than a grumpy and unhealthy person. Rather take a short timeout than run into larger issues with body and mind due to overworking that will cost society and the individual a lot of money to heal.
Taking a selfie is like painting a self portrait or creating a statue so this type of culture has pretty much existed forever so the selfie isn't a millennial thing and isn't automatically a sign of selfishness.
Making our own life choices might also be viewed as a selfish thing to do. But listen, we love life so much that we want to make the best of it so it doesn't only stay as a text written on pillows, shirts etc. By this I mean : carpe diem.
"Millennials always look at their phones first thing in the morning"
WMRM: My phone is also my alarm and it's pretty difficult to turn it off without looking at my phone first thing in the morning. Also why do we even bother with an early bird society if we don't read the news first thing in the morning? May I remind you that my phone is also my newspaper. And when we look so "out of this world" walking around with headphones then may I please inform you that our phone is also our radio.
It would be more expensive and unwise to consume more in order to have each product when you can have only one that will last for a longer time and can be used in many ways.
