4th ADVENT

Inspiration, Travel, christmas, art & crafts

I´m back in my childhood. I feel like a small child quite keen on small wild animals, babies, cakes and cookies, hand-made dolls, bambies and old Hollywood Christmas songs. I remember the film "Benjamin Button" with Brad Pitt and I feel that way: as if the clock needles go backward. Strange, no? I enjoy the smell of cinnamon, clover, peppar, cardamon, ginger, double-cream, pines and glogg these days. So good old memories with all those who are no longer here; so sweet family Christmas traditions from my country and so wonderful past Swedish holidays too!!!

It will be a very lonely and quiet holiday this 2020, but there shall be more holidays to enjoy next year and the following years as well.

As I am not at home, I imagine that I light the four Advent candles in mi heart and I fancy a tall Christmas tree with all the vintage glass-lights we used to hang in my childhood home during the 50-ties and 60-ties. They were wonderful light garlands! Each light was a different figure: a Santa, a snowman, a candle, a street-light, a Rudolf, a cookie, a train. And I shall imagine my own green tree with the names of all the ones I love and all those I remember, written on some beautiful golden tags hanging from every branch.

Ps: this doll is from a hand-crafts boutique I visited in S:t Petersburg, Russia. I thought it matches perfectly with these holidays. I am very childish these days and I love small dolls and hope to see some snow in Uppsala on the 24th!!!

May you have a peaceful 4th Advent this Sunday.

SUNNY SUNDAY AT STABBY PRÄSTGÅRD

Inspiration, Fashion, Nature, art & crafts, flowers

These are the surprises the Swedish weather gives you. After a dark, rainy and messy Saturday, the sun came out and no cloud was seen in the Uppsala skies. Weather -as you well know- is an issue of utmost importance here.

I had proposed at Stabby Gården to show my floral collages born during this year´s self-quarantine , while trying to avoid Corona. I called them and a week before Sunday 13th of this month they returned my call to tell me that I could show my series of collages that Sunday. So lucky me!! Quite stressy, but worth trying it.

You cannot imagine the nice people that came by, took the last coffee with "kanelbulle" from the summer season at Stabby Café and at the same time enjoyed my exhibition.

Here I am posting a few pics from that date and you can see how loveable the place is! Among other personalities, this was the former home of Nathan Söderblom, Archbishop of the Swedish Church in Uppsala during the beginning of the XXth century and Nobel Peace Prize in 1930. He lived in this house with his family from 1901 until 1912.

When you do something from the heart, succeess is guaranteed. I am fond of the Swedish flora and a warm follower of Carl von Linné and all his works. They were my inspiration for this exhibition.

QUARANTINE PRODUCTION

Inspiration, Nature, art & crafts, Deco

Hi friends! Hoping everything Ok with you and families! Are you taking care and being responsible still? Going to work or staying at home?

Here I post 6 collage works from my "Quarantine" production. Yes! I spent most of my free time at home cutting and pasting and creating these..... I´ve always loved to cut and paste beautiful images. I have had scrapbooks before and I have passed some of them to my daughter when she grew up (she is 26 now). I made my first scrapbook at school in 1965.

Now I am finishing this series of 13 collages iunspired by the Gullers Tradings wall calendar of Northern plants (VÄXTER) from 2019. The central images are taken from Carl Axel Lindman´s book "BILDER ur NORDENS flora" from 1902.

My life is based on admiring flowers, pets, horses, woods, sunsets and the sea. The whole nature! But most of all I admire and I am surprised as usual by the beauty of every FLOWER.
