56 days spent in Turkey

Tuesday, 21 May, 2019, 5:23 AM

Turkey is by far the country in Europe that I've visited the most. I've been trying my best to remember all of the times that I've been in different parts of Turkey during the years, and it could be that I might have forgotten some of the trips that I took during earlier years. But I dont think so.

2001, Alanya
2002, Alanya for two weeks
2010, Side
2011, Alanya
2012, Özdere Izmir / Kusadasi
2013, Alanya
2014, Oba

This equals 7 trips to Turkey, about 56 days - give or take a few. I cant tell for sure which one of the different trips that was 7 or 8 days, so I've summed it up to 7 days on each trip. And the upcomming trip to Istanbul is not included in the count. But almost two months spent in Turkey.

As you can see theres a few years where we visited Turkey a lot and it actually got to the point where we started looking to buy an apartment. Turkey kind of felt like home. But then we started traveling alot, to different coutries, and by then I was happy that we didnt buy a place in Turkey so we could keep traveling to new countries.

But, 56 days, thats by far the most I've spent in one country. Whats the most time you've spent in one country, and what country?

Who hasent spent a week sunbathing in Alanya?

Monday, 19 November, 2018, 5:58 AM

Yes, who hasn't spend a week or two sunbathing in Alanya. I've been to Turkey about... I don't know, I've lost count on how many times. A few years back, we had at least one week in Turkey, each year, just to relax and enjoy the sun, the ocean and the food.

The Turkish cousine is amazing, regardless if you're at a fancy resturant, a beach lunchplace, ordering drinks at the poolarea or exploring the local grocery store range. Turkey is actually one of the better sun-vacation destinations when it comes to dry cider, they had it long before most places started having Strongbow or Magners.
If you havent tried Turkish meze, kind of like tapas, you really should. And traditional Turkish breakfast item is scrambled eggs cooked in sautéed vegetables, Menemen, lovely. Sis Kebab, meat on a stick originated in Turkey, wouldn't you know?

The beautiful scenery has a lot to offer, morning fog over the nearby mountains, sunrise in the bay, hectic morning trafic as the locals are getting ready to start yet another day, stunning arcitechture and quiet sunset beachwalks.

On the last row, of the images below, you'll see a bottle with a hole in it and screw caps in the bottom. For each full bottle that's recycled, the goverment pays for one wheelchair. Isen't that a great way to motivate people to recycle?
