Best places to eat in Trosa

Tuesday, 30 March, 2021, 1:05 PM

It's always a bit of a struggle when you're traveling, to find the best places for an entire group of people right. So I am going to list all of the places we had time to visit whilst we visited Trosa in Sweden and tell you a bit about them, so with springtime fast approaching I hope this will give you an idea of where to set your sights.

I am not going to give the restaurants and the experience we had on each restaurant their own posts, so instead, I am gonna cram them together in one bigger post. I hope that's okay with you, and maybe it's even easier to read them this way. Please let me know.

Tullhuset

We had white wine and smoked shrimps, as I told you in an earlier blogpost. (read it HERE, if you missed it.) It's just amazing to eat shrimps like this, just having a longer sitdown, pealing your own shrimps, and eating your meal at a much slower pace.

If you're into shrimps I would totally recommend you going to Tullhuset, the size of the basket was large but to half the price of the neighboring restaurants. I'm just saying...

Marina Libanese Restaurang in Trosa

I had never eaten Lebanese food before, and you haven't either, I'll tell you this - you're missing out! The food was totally amazing, I was simply blown away by the quality. It was kind of like eating tapas, but with an upgraded BOOM!

If I have to pick one favorite restaurant from our weekend in Trosa, it would be this, definitely.

Pizza @ Ankaret

This was your typical local pub, where they serve a separate lunch menu during the days, and then later on during the night, it switches to dinner menus and of course pizzas. It's kind of your standard Swedish place if you ask me.
We ordered a gyro pizza and some garlic bread, tzatziki, and olives on the side. It was really nothing fancy or special, but the food was good and the staff was friendly.

Back at Tullhuset

On the day of our departure we revisited for a quick lunch before we took off to reality, we had some pasta and burgers. No, I did not have the pasta, Hanna did. I had myself a burger with bacon, and I have to say it was the perfect burger, served with fries, some coleslaw, and a coke.

There are of course a number of restaurants that we did not go to during our stay in Trosa, for a number of reasons. Either they were fully booked, redonkulous expensive on shrimps, or just not what we were looking at that moment. You know the drill on finding the perfect place, that not always easy, but maybe my recommendations can help you out a bit.

Enjoy your meal!

Review of 2020

Friday, 1 January, 2021, 10:16 AM

Oh yes, we did reviews of our travel years 2018 and 2019 so why should 2020 be any different one might ask... well, it's 2020, so it's different but we're gonna do our best to at least do a review of our travels within Sweden. Enjoy the read!

January
Athens, Greece

June
Trosa, Sweden

Yupp, we started the year in Athens, Greece where we spent the first two days of January, but those two days were the only two days we spent abroad all year. We had a lot planned though, and then the first wave of the Corona-pandemic hit us which ment that we could only travel causiouskly within Sweden...

July
Stockholm Sweden

August
Gotland & Fårö Sweden

So we had all of our trips abroad canceled, we booked trips to Paris, Edinburgh, Tallinn, Cyprus, and then later on Rhodes in Greece, but as you all know they were all canceled. So we spent our summer traveling around Sweden, and don't get me wrong - I know we were lucky to be traveling at all.

August
Nåttarö, Sweden

Food travel
2020

And at the end of the summer, we thought that maybe, just maybe we can start planning ahead, and then the second wave hit us even harder than at the beginning of the year. That meant even more canceled trip, not abroad of course but the once we had booked for traveling within Sweden. We had another winter trip planned to the island of Gotland, a train trip to the south of Sweden to visit family over the holidays, and a New Years' weekend in Stockholm.

One thing we did throughout the year, as a substitute for traveling, was food travel. We explored the culinary scenes all over the world in our own kitchen, having small and big dinner parties. I have absolutely loved traveling from home, and that is one thing you'll most definitely will be seeing more of during 2021.

Just like previous years, we are going to sum it up, but this year we are going to add a category for canceled trips:
A number of trips: 4

Visited countries: 2
New countries: 0
Days traveling: 10
Trips canceled: 8

All in all, it's been a good year, not travel-wise though, but still, it's been good. With that said, I am so ready to start planning ahead for 2021!

Highlights from the summer of 2020

Monday, 5 October, 2020, 5:41 AM

We did a short review last year, from the Summer of 2019 so I thought we would do the same with 2020, even though this year has not nearly brought as many exotic travel destinations as last year.

Fun fact, this is the first summer, in TEN years that I have not been abroad. We have always had our summervacations abroad, so this is the first year in forever and then some that we are doing the entire summer in Sweden. Most days were naturally spent at home, chilling in the backyard with some barbeque, playing games, and having some amazing laughs.

Having a cocktail in the backyard.

Brittish pubnight, Hungarian street food, classic Greek food and Italian.

Foodtravel

But you have all seen our food travel series right?
When Corona put a stop to the travel year of 2020 we decided that at the very least it would not stop us from having the amazing food experiences that we always have abroad. We just had to make it ourselves in our own kitchen, so that is exactly what we did.

- The UK for a pub night with foods and a beer tasting.
- A quick stop in Hungary for street food.
- Indian themed dinner.
- Some classic
Greek food.
-
Italian cocktails and food.

It has really been a blast doing this Food Travel series, and we will keep on doing it regardless if we can travel or not. We actually have some things coming up on the blog shortly, that has yet to be published, so stay tuned. But if you have any ideas for fun foods, we are happy to receive some new ideas.

Chilling with an Aperol Sprits in Trosa.

A weekend in Trosa

We started off the summer with celebrating Midsummer in a small town called Trosa, about an hour from Stockholm Sweden. It gave us a bit of a road trip, which I haven't been on in years. I truly fell in love with this small town with all its charm, and I can't wait to go back again, I would really like to visit during the autumn when the leaves are changing colors.

The magical views on Fårö.

Visby and Fårö

We booked ourselves a weekend in Visby, on the island of Gotland. It a few hours boat ride with the ferry, that actually departures from our hometown, so it's super easy to get there. We really should go more often. We even took a daytrip to Fårö which is a little piece of heaven all on its own.

Days trips to Stockholm

Of course, we took some daytrips to
Stockholm for some good food and drinks. It takes us about 45 minutes by train to get to the capital, and every time we've been in the city we always wonder why we don't go there more often... Going to Stockholm is really a treat for your inner foodie, the amazing restaurants we have visited!

Birthday girls!

Yes, we did have our birthday, you all remember that both me and Angelica have the same birthday right? Same day but some years apart. Well, this year Angelica turned 30, so that was quite the day of surprises for her.

Minivacation on the Island Nåttarö

We ended off our summer vacation with a few days of calm and quiet on the island Nåttarö in the Swedish archipelago, which was exactly what we all needed. We rented a small cabin and did the easy living thing for a few days without running water
or bathrooms in the cabin. That was quite the weekend!

Trips abroad?

We had a trip booked to Cyprus, that was canceled and rebooked to the island of Rhodes in Greece for the fall, but you all know what's happening in the world, so of course, the trip to Rhodes got canceled too. As I've said before, I know its all for the best but it still a real bummer! So no trips abroad insight... and not really any plans for booking new once either, we'll stay put in Sweden for now.

So to sum it up... Even though we only traveled within Sweden this summer, its been quite the summer with a lot of adventures. One of the best really. We've seen so much of Sweden that I've never seen before, and I am so thankful for that, it's really been a great summer!

What about you, have you had a good one?
