Byron Bay🏄🏼‍♀️

One sunny Saturday we took a day trip to Byron Bay with the ‘griffithmates’. It is only an hours drive from the Gold Coast and so easily reachable. We had such an amazing time, we never wanted to leave!

We first stopped at the famous lighthouse which is the most easterly point in mainland Australia- pretty cool! The view offered panoramic views of the turquoise ocean with some swimmers, surfers and kayakers. Truly a breathtaking view and nice little walk.

And of course, the beautiful lighthouse...

After wandering around the lighthouse, we drove down to the main beach in Byron bay and set up camp for the day. We just laid soaking up the sun, listening to music, and taking the occasional dip in the sea. Swimming was so refreshing- such crystal clear water. There was some medium sized waves, but they just added to the enjoyability! The beach was beautiful!

After lazying around for a while we got up and wandered around town for a bit and explored. There were such good vibes in Byron Bay. Everyone was happy and there was someone playing music everywhere you went. All the shops were quite hipster and very cool. We ended up following the crowd and queuing up for what was marketed as ‘the best fish and chips in Byron Bay’. In all fairness, it was delicious! We sat and ate it on the grass by the trees with a cider, watching the waves roll in and listening to a guitarist play and sing away. He was really good and played a song which I noted down and added to my playlist, ‘Class A Girl’.

After lunch it was pretty much time to get back on the bus and head back home... We really wanted to stay longer, but we will be back and next time we’ll stay overnight! As a local said to us, it truly was a “splendid Byron day” that we had!
