The weekend that has been I spent in Maine with two other girls, Laura from Germany and Ann Louise who is also from Sweden.
On Friday night, I packed my stuff in the car and drove to pick up Laura, we then went and bought some food for us, and then we went and picked up Ann Louise, then we began our long drive to Portland, Maine. The whole car journey from Rhode Island to Portland took about 2,5 to 3 hours, and when we came to Portland around 9:00 pm, we drove straight to the place where we were going to sleep for the night.
On Saturday we woke up around 9:00 am, ate some breakfast and then packed our things before it was time to check out the room.
We headed for Old Port which is part of Portland, we walked around a little and looked for some shops, we also tried to find a cafe that had sandwiches with lobster but we did not find anything like takeout, so we drove on to Portland Head Light, which is the most popular guy in Portland. The lighthouse is on Cape Elizabeth which is a very nice place with a beach. We walked around there for an hour before we returned to Old Port because Laura and Ann Louise wanted to buy some sweaters that they looked at before. We later stayed at a supermarket so we could trade something we would have for breakfast the following day.
Then we went off to Acadia National Park where we would spend the second night, on the way we stopped at a restaurant for some food, and then drove off. The address I had received was completely wrong, so we had to drive a detour but eventually reached the building around 10 o'clock. We packed our stuff and made our breakfast order because we would have a very early morning the following day.
On Sunday we woke up around 4:30 am in the morning to go to Cadillac Mountain to see the sunrise, one is on the mountain as the sun rises, one of the first to see the sun throughout the United States. But unfortunately the clouds would not see any sunrise, the whole sky was ready except where the sun was. But it was still an experience and a very nice place to visit. So we sat for our breakfast and watched the "sunrise". Then we went back to the accommodation so I could sleep in the saw hour, because I had a lot of car driving in front of me that day.
When we woke up again around 9:30 am, we packed our stuff together and drove to Bar Harbor, we checked out for a bit of business there and I and Laura were looking for a Penny Pressing Machine, as we both started collecting pressed pennies. Then we looked around for a cafe that had lobster but again we were without luck. So we drove on to Fort Knox which is an old castle. Unfortunately, the castle was not open yet for the season but you could still go around in the yard and look around.
At 3:00 pm, the trip started home, as it would take about 5 hours to get to Rhode Island from where we were, but on the way we stopped at Maine Dinner to eat, and finally we got our lobster, or well Ann Louise took a lobster salad and we tasted some of it. After that we had about two hours left of the drive. We also stopped in New Hampshire to put our feet down, so we can say that we have been in that state too, haha.
I have decided that I will visit as many states as possible during my time here, so far have been in 10 out of 50.
