My visa is approved! YAY!
On Wednesday night I took the bus from Tomelilla to Lund to then take a SJ Nattåg to Stockholm. I was very nervous all Wednesday and that my train was 50 minutes late did not help! The train was suposed to departure from Lund 22:24, and after 50 minutes of waiting and three tram changes later, the train arrived and I could get on and look for my bed. As soon as I had shown my ticket for the conductor, I went to sleep, woke up once during the trip but fell asleep easily.
When I arrived at Stockholm around 6:15 am, I went to lock my luggage in a storage box, and after that I went and searched for where the bus stop went to the embassy. After looking for 15 minutes, I gave up and went to the press office and asked for help. Took the bus to the embassy and then discovered that I had taken an early bus so I had to sit outside in the cold and wait for 50 minutes until they opened. Lucky I had a book with me that I could read, haha!
Once they opened, I was the other in sex to come in (I would’ve been first but there was a man who cut the line!). I had to show my passport and take off my outerwear, show the shoes and show the contents of my bag. They also took my mobile, charger and headphones.
Onwards to the next building. Here I was able to submit all my papers (DS-2019, DS-2016 Confirmation Page, SERVIS, Certificate of Personality 120, Account Statement, Booking Confirmation), my passport and an extra-developed photo. They gave the booking confirmation and the extra-developed photo back, then they asked me to sit down and wait until I was called. Waited for about 20 minutes before it was my turn, the man who received me was super friendly. He scanned all my fingerprints, then he seriously asked me only four questions, So you're applying for a visa because you're going to be Au Pair? In what state will you live in? Have you spoken to your host family? How many children do you want to look after ?. When I had answered those questions, he said the long awaited words "Your visa is approved, it will arrive at you in a week". I got back all the paper besides the DS-2016 Confermaton Pafe and the passport.
Afterwards I went back to the security check and got back my mobile, chargers and headphones.
It feels so nice to have the visa cleared! One less thing to remember to worry about!
