Happy belated Christmas on you all, I haven’t had time to update here lately, had so much to do. But here comes a post about how I celebrated Christmas 2018.
This year I did haven’t have very much Christmas feeling if I’m gonna be completely honest, think that is because it has not been the usual Swedish Christmas that I am used to. I have not been involved in all Swedish traditions this year, so can honestly say that I have had a lot of homesickness now in December.
But I celebrated Christmas with my host family, normally you celebrate Christmas in the US on December 25, but because both my host mother and her sister had to work both the 24 and 25, we celebrated on Sunday the 23rd. We did nothing special, the day started with that Santa Claus came to visit in the morning, everyone opened Christmas presents, my host family apparently has a tradition that everyone gets their presents wrapped in personal paper, so that everyone knows which gifts are who’s and they open them in order, the children begin then the grandparents, then my host parents and then the aunt and her husband. A very strange tradition....
My host family was happy with what I had bought for them, and I also got some gifts from them. Which I was surprised about, because I said that I didn't want anything because I will be moving soon so I do not want too much stuff.
But very grateful for what I got. I got a map of the states where you scratch where you have been in the country, a necklace with a pendant of the state of Rhode Island(!), a bracelet and tickets to the musical Wicked in Los Angeles!!!
For the rest of the day we did nothing special, we watched Christmas movies and played some games.
