It was something that crossed my mind when I was practicing yoga earlier. We live in a world where everything is about the self.

And the short answer is yes.

But to see yoga as selfish we need to see both sides. When I practice yoga I do it for myself. I do it because it makes ME feel good both physically and mentally. But yoga also makes me feel more conscious about everything and everybody around me. It’s easy in the modern world we live in to isolate yourself in your little bubble. We are all living on the edge of stress and it can be hard to make room for somebody else when you don’t feel like you have enough space for yourself. (Of course it’s not everybody that feels this way)

But when I practice yoga, look into myself I discover that it is also easier to see other people and everything around me. Everything becomes more attainable.

So yeah, in my opinion yoga is selfish. But to make room for others you have to make room for yourself. As the old saying says. You can’t love anybody else if you don’t love yourself first.

I believe that loving yourself isn’t something you should be ashamed of. You should feel good about yourself and accept the things you cannot change (like in my last post! Really something I live by)
I have just learned to be me.

Be yourself because everyone else is taken.

"make peace with the state of things".

This is so important and also why I want to talk about it. Many young girls (including myself sometimes) may find it impossible to do the things they want because of the things they want to change. It has taken me some years to figure out, and that's why I'm writing this.

To make peace with the state of things is simply not to let the things you can not change destroy everything else. You only live once. Then it's over. I even make the mistake of saying "nah, I'm just wearing long pants, my legs are too pale" so even though it's 25 degrees outside I walk around in pants.

This must stop, both for me and for all of you who have the same thoughts!

Yes, my legs are so pale that they dazzle people. But they do not get more tanned by wearing long pants? Why should I never have nice summer dresses or shorts on just because my legs are pale?

There is no reason to hang on the things you can not change in the same second. If you feel your legs are too pale then take shorts or skirts on! Then they become brighter!

If you feel your stomach is not toned enough, work out more. But there is no reason why something you can not change at this moment destroy anything you want.

You have all the options in front of you! It is about taking them and enjoying all the time you have on earth. Life is amazing and you get the most out of it!
