Today I watch this Tv serie from Norway called "oljebarna", basically because I had a quiet time, and i started to get this little feeling about how people are living over there and started to compare their life situation to my own.
I am going to be as direct as even possible: My lifestyle in Spain can be compared to those with high Luxury in Norway, and the funnies part is that I dont earn half the money they need to make to gain the same life style.
If people have the same access to the same life that we have they wouldnt even bother the champaign, the VIP tables, or the "beeing a Scandinavian" at all. I am sick of people coming here on Vacation telling us they are rich. Mostly because I have seen what it is to be poor. I think happiness cant be bought and this is where the dilemma comes in.
I am raised in a small town in Norway where people were not that interested in high fashion and-or money. Maybe a small group were, and as far as I can remember this didnt bother me at all. But when I turend 20 this started to kick in a little more, fashion became important, and how other people were looking at me was everything.
It is so funny, that I, 7 years later am based in Spain and have access to basically live the rich life of a Norwegian compared in lifestyle and I choose not to do it. Drinking is funny once in a while, beeing hangover is on the other hand a nightmare. I rather have a normal life.
I am not lying to myself saying I would never become rich, but the fact that the way people over there live when they have those money can be so free over here made my head boiling.
Do you think you would have been drinking more if you could buy a beer for 5 NOK or a drink for 50? Maybe at first, but after a while you would get pretty tired.
Something to think about!
