Eleanor and Park is defiantly not the typical high school romance. Eleanor is the new girl, the girl with the crazy red hair and the strange clothes. Park is the quiet Asian boy who does everything in his power to avoid bringing attention to himself: until Eleanor walks onto the school buss.
I feel in love with the book automatically. It really hooked me from the start. It's the most beautiful, heartwarming story I've ever read. I love how Rainbow Rowell wrote about abuse. It made the book more realistic. Also how poetic it was at times. Overall, the writing was really beautiful.
BUT THE ENDING THOUGH. I was crying for almost 20 minutes. Eleanor and Park broke up. They started to moving on. They did not end up going to prom together. Eleanor stared a new school. Which was really heartbreaking for me, because in my eyes they were perfect for each other. But I liked what Rainbow Rowell said. " But they're 17 years old. I don't believe that 17-year-olds get happy endings. They get beginnings"
They will find new love in the future. One much deeper and more meaningful. Or life gives them another shot, and they meet again.
