Our favorite place in Weligama! The food was so nice so we came back for breakfast and lunch several times. The Restaurant was really cozy and it was also a hostel called Hangtime that have yoga two times a day. We would definitely have stayed here if our budget would allow it but we are trying to find places below 200 sek a night. We would also have tried the yoga class if Johanna’s foot had been better. Anyway we can really recommend it for people staying I Weligama!

Now we are staying at an airbnb close to the beach in Weligama, it’s a really nice family living downstairs and right now we are the only guests.

The first morning I (Johanna) wanted to start the day with a run on the beach since I have signed up to run Göteborgsvarvet in May, a half marathon.

It was a long time since I was running but it felt really good so I run barefoot along the whole beach that was 9km. But I guess that I should have started with a shorter distance because I have had some problem when running with my left foot and now I cant walk on it.

Fortunately it works to surf on it so we have started the days with two hours surf. It was a lot of fun to surf again but one of the fins on my board broke so I had to pay 2000 R for that, it is around 120 SEK but it fells like have some bad luck right now…

After the morning surf we had a really nice breakfast at Hangten Rooftop Resturant before we started to study.

When every body back home is celebrating Easter we are celebrating the Srilankan New Year! They have a special schedule that they need to follow and then they eat a lot of food and give each other presents. We were invited for food in three different places and everyone was so welcoming and happy. The food that they eat this day is really sweet but if was so nice of them to invite us and it was fun to try everything!

Today is time to say goodbye to this place in Unawentuna after two weeks and we really enjoyed it here! The place is called Shanthi Hotel and it’s located at Dalawella, Matara Road, Unawatuna 80000, Sri Lanka. The staff is really helpful and you can’t live closer to the ocean!

We got the tip that we should try the massage in Unawatuna, and it was amazing.

Madeleine chose Ayurveda full body massage with is a classic Sri Lankan massage and I chose the Swedish massage since it was a bit harder and is suppose to remove tight knots of tension. We can really recommend it and they gave us a cute coconut after the massage.

On the way home we also visited a spice garden, I (Johanna) love cinnamon and have been nagging about visiting a spice garden since we came to Sri Lanka so I was very happy. It was a small garden where they showed the different spices, flowers and fruits that they had and then they hade a bigger one were they produced the things that they were selling.

It was really nice and we ended up buying some different stuff, for example alovera creams, vanilla extract, cinnamon (of course) and I also bought some weird brown liquid that you should take twice a day. This liquid was suppose to be good for the stomach and since I avoid gluten because problem with my stomach I thought it wouldn’t hurt to try. It actually tasted a bit like port wine but they promised that there was no alcohol in it.

Madeline ended up buying more stuff then me so we both were happy after the visit!
