This might sound a bit strange to you...
But I have to confess anyway! I have dreamt of traveling to Mexico for the longest time. Stretching out in the hot Mexican morning sun, feeling the generously humid and salty air on my skin. Laying out on a beautiful white sand beach, sipping on salty rimmed margaritas and eating my own bodyweight in guacamole, tacos and enchiladas.
Needless to say, it's been a long time coming.
There are plenty of beautiful beaches in Cancún. Most of them are pretty crowded during high season, which I sometimes find takes away from the tranquil experience and atmosphere you want to have on a beach. Thankfully, there is plenty of space for everyone to find their own little paradise.
My favorite was, by far, Playa Delfines. Only half an hour by bus away from our hostel, we were met with the most breathtaking view I have ever seen. Now, I have been to a a few gorgeous beaches around the world, but this one is now my numero uno favorite. Aside from the playful name, which comes from (you guessed it!) how you can actually see dolphins swimming around the beach, it's white as snow sand stretches endlessly along the coastline, melting into the most clear, azure blue water you will ever see.
Completely mesmerized by the crystal clear water in the most beautiful vivid shades of blue, we descended the bus. Forgetting all about the bustling traffic of Cancún, we made our way across the street towards the blissful horizon.
I have been drooling over this simplistic, classic little two-piece is from Monday Swimwear. Unfortunately it's sold out, but the Palma style is on sale in plenty of other patterns! Check out their sale section HERE. What I love about these bikinis is the fit and comfort, not to mention both the top and bottoms are adjustable. Hurra!
Meet my partner in crime for most of my Mexican adventure and mega beach babe, Claire-Louise Browne, from London (the country). Claire and I met our first day in Cancún, both buzzing with excitement of being out traveling again. We quickly bonded over our endless love for sun, sea, palm trees, food and adventure.
Can you tell I was happy to be back on a beach..?
To my delight, Claire is also an ex-swimmer (both of us retired professionals, of course), so we both splashed, swam and occasionally dove through the clear blue waves of Mexican "winter".
We finished our beach adventure with some delicious Mexican vegetarian food and watermelon juice at a small local restaurant.
