About week ago I visited Mrs. Ewa at her house. It was after the holidays, after my health problems. All I can really say is that I do care about this lady she is very important to me. Made me realize few things about health and being able to do everything. I am thankful for that and happy that despite my absence, she still want me to read to her.

Me being rather lazy person, however with high hope for improvement, am terribly sorry to announce that my jogging went through some sort of crisis (on both physical and emotional field). In the beginning of December I tried to exercise regularly, it was going really well, until the exam session approached me from the back...I had no time for even showering, therefore there was no time for running. Then I had health problems due to lack of sleep, food and dehydration and another few weeks past without running. I realized how much impact running has on my daily life. I was energized, healthy and awake. My condition was better than ever. Unfortunately know I have to motivate myself to get back on track. I want to share with this community my last running session from month ago. I will try and do my best to make it all work again :)))
I decided to share not only my new best time but also my result from almost two weeks ago. For a random person it may not be such a big difference, however for a runner a three-minute difference is always a huge matter. I realized how important it is to take your time and really prepare your body for such an effort. The first result from 25th of November was due to the low level of sugar in my blood. In my case it was especially apparent due to the fact that I have diabetes stage 1. It is very important for me to know in advance hoe my body feels, check the level of sugar, etc. I definitely need to work on planning my trainings better and in advance. The second result is, in fact, my new high score. Because I tried to exercise more often than three times a week, I could see and feel the improvement. Unfortunately in December my school has two weeks of MOK exams, therefore it will be more difficult to keep track on my running sessions. Despite that, I will try my best!!!
This Thursday I participated in another sign language class. My friends carry out the course. They are always prepared and know how to keep us focused. Every class consists of the revision of the material from previous sessions, then we move on to new material. At the end of reach class we have time to practice new skills. This time we learned about professions. What is the most important is remembering the fundament elements, like the alphabet or how to start a conversation. For me there is definitely area to revise, which is the alphabet. It seems very simple, however once you are in a real face to face situation with a deaf person; it is very hard to keep up with what they are saying if you do not understand the basics. What I have learned is that, learning sign language requires collaboration with other people. Because you cannot say anything (obviously) it is important to remember about facial expression, hand gesture and even the movement of lips and body language. I really look forward to these meetings. Every time they give a boost of inspiration.
Yesterday, I visited Ms. Ewa. Charming old lady, who unfortunately, happens to be completely paralyzed. Our weekly sessions are usually on Mondays or Tuesdays. It depends on the condition of Ms. Ewa. She has very rigorous schedule therefore it is my duty to adjust to her daily activities. It is very important tat I call in advance to check if Ms. Ewa is feeling well and ready for me to visit. Even though she is not able to talk or even move her head, we have established very unique form of communication. I only can ask questions that require the answer “yes”, or “no”. If the answer is positive, Ms. Ewa will blink with her eyes once. If the answer is negative, she will look at the closet, which is placed on the right side of her bed. It is difficult and challenging, however I would never assume that I will fall in love with these meeting so quickly. The atmosphere we create together is comforting and peaceful. I feel really attached to this lady and I am glad I had the opportunity to meet her. These meetings made me realize that people like Ms. Ewa are abandoned by the society. Despite their inability to move, their minds are still working and they need people around them to keep this mind active and busy.
It is very difficult to motivate oneself to run regularly, especially when it usually is completely dark outside. My running routine happens almost every day after school, when I come home. It consists of a fifteen-minute warm up, almost 2 or more than two kilometers distance and stretching afterwards. These are new challenges I have set up for myself because, as I have noticed, it improved my condition. I definitely need to work on breathing, as it is one of the most important skills when one decides to take up running. However due to exercise I do after jogging, I can already feel the improvement. One more thing that I have realized is that one needs to be consistent and determined. Even two days without running may result in worse time and it may be harmful for the health. Therefore I will try to schedule days in which I will run, create a plan for my sessions.
Unfortunately my last week was so busy that I had no time for a jog, however I had some spare time this Sunday so I decided to use it for recreation, which means exercise. As usual I ran about 2 kilometers and after I did some push-ups, squats and planks. What was very noticeable is that it was difficult for me to remain in the same tempo and focus on breathing at the same time. Thanks to good music and hoping for the best I managed to run the distance in less than 15 minutes. People who run regularly know the feeling of pure joy after finishing the distance. It is due to the release of endorphins. Boost of energy I receive after exercise is absolutely outstanding. I would never change it for anything.
Today, as every Monday, I went to Bednarska szkoła podstawowa. It is twice as pleasing due to the fact that I have been a student of Raszyńska, therefore visiting the primary school brings back old but very good memories. Every visit develops my traits of being considerate, thoughtful, caring and firm at the same time. The thing I have observed is that even six year olds are already addicted to technology. Despite the fact that development of technology brought many advantages, there is no doubt that it can also be harmful, especially for new generation. While I am there, I try to expand their creativity, make them come up with ideas. There are no such things as good or bad, it is only their approach that is important.
As I have mentioned in my last (and first) post related to service, there is second thing I do which is helping in the Bednarska szkoła podstawowa at Kawalerii 5. My duties are, taking care of children with disabilities (helping them study), being an advisor of school council and taking care of children in general (playing with them, studying, etc). My supervisors are the principal of the school Maryanne Chodkowski and one of the teachers Dagmara Korandriej. To be honest I was a little bit skeptical about this activity due to my bad experience with young children. However I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and see if I manage to handle the stress and responsibility. Results are beyond what I have expected. I genuinely adore these kids. They are smart, understanding and loving. I usually come there on Mondays, and it makes this day hundred times better. Not only have I developed organizational skills but also I realized how responsible one has to be to take care of over 300 hundred of children. I really look forward to working with the school. The stuff is absolutely great, they are demanding and helpful at the same time. What makes my heart melts is the fact, that kids remembers me after the first visit and just a week ago, few little girls came up to me and said that they missed me and that they are very happy to see me. I cannot remember when was the last time I felt that flattered and fulfilled even though I have just showed them some affection.
Despite the fact that this blog is meant mostly for my CAS it would be a waste of time if I didn't post anything beside updates of my CAS activities. Therefore I decided to share some of the things I like to do in my spare time (which is rare). Right now I'm sitting in a Cafe Stor on Powiśle, drinking coffee and thinking about how to fit work worth of 28 hours into 24 hours. Wish me luck :))
