I study on fish (trout and carp) and crayfish (Astacus leptodactylus) biology, population biology, reproduction, rearing, nutrition, management and conservation in Fırat University in Turkey. I have also possibilities to carry out investigations on frogs, freshwater crabs, snails, mussels, eel (Mastacembelus mastacembelus) and shabbout (Barbus grypus) reproduction and rearing. Fırat University laboratories have technical equipments such as spectrophotometer, gas chromatography and electron microscope.

Fisheries faculty is a higher education centre in which technologies and knowledge are developed on the field of fisheries and aquaculture. Activities in our faculty are especially on teaching, scientific researches and reproduction, rearing, cultivation, feeding, disease, fishing, ecology of economically important water creatures. Main aims of the faculty are to utilize natural fisheries stock with suitable fishing methods without endangering sustainability to produce on requirement and supplies (i.e. feeds, disease, fish welfare etc.) of rapid growing aquaculture sector, to determine suitable processing technologies as well as to educate and train graduates and post-graduates for the sector.

Our faculty with its two research centers; Cip Fisheries Research Centre and Government Hydrological Works Centre, has well equipped classrooms and laboratories, over 35 academic staff performs many national and international projects and producing quality publications on reproduction, rearing, cultivation, feeding, disease, fishing, ecology of fish and crayfish in respectable journals.

Firat University, Fisheries Faculty consists of three departments with seven main branches carrying out research and education. It is a faculty mainly active in the wide field of application concerning fisheries and aquatic sciences with preferences in aquaculture, fish diseases, fish parasitology, pathology, immunology, fish health and treatment, fish welfare, fish food and feeding, fish physiology and toxicology, fish technology, fish population and biology, limnology, algae culture, lake and river management, hydrology and hydrobiology, fishing, fisheries economy and marketing, national and international fisheries laws. The faculty was founded in 1982 by government. There are 32 academic appointments in this faculty; 9 professors, 5 associate professors, 9 assistant professors, 14 research assistant, 2 specialists and 40 postgraduate, 25 administrative staff.
