First things first. You never really travel alone, the world is full of friends waiting to get to know you.
I was eighteen when I was traveling alone for the first time. I moved to another continent, actually.
As I walked through the security check I heard my heart break. There was this humungous emptiness in my chest and the awareness that I left my family, my love and my life I was used to behind me-voluntarily.
My mind was numb, my heart so overwhelmed by all those feelings I felt for the first time as I stepped into the airplane. During the flight, a 10 hour flight, tears ran down my cheeks quietly. As I felt the airplane lifting from the ground I thought: "There's no going back no. I made a decision for myself and I got to stick with it."
