Today I am going to discuss with you what I mostly like to eat in a day when living a realistically healthy lifestyle. I am only human and have my days where I pig out on food that is not good for you and I understand it may be hard to change an eating habit especially if you do not know where to begin and if you do not have the sources, in this post I am going to make it as realistic as possible for everyone out there and keep it easy and inexpensive. Something everyone needs to remember is that food is VITAL for a healthy body, mind and lifestyle and that there are so many tasty things you can make that are wholesome and good for you.
I am someone who needs to change my habit for not eating some mornings because the saying " food is the most important meal of the day " is TRUE! Skipping breakfast can be dangerous and can determine how you proceed throughout the day which is so true! I know that when I do not eat breakfast I can find myself exhausted by midday and I quite often feel nauseous.
The thing is.... your body is practically starving itself during the night whilst you are sleeping and if you wait till 'morning tea' or 'lunch' to eat your first meals of the day, thats up to 15hrs of not giving your body the fuel it needs therefore it surely can't function at its highest potential and your metabolism won't be working as effectively. So if you are someone who mostly skips breakfast ( somewhat guilty ) I challenge you and myself to tackle this habit and try starting to eat something for breakfast, even if it is little. If you are always in a rush take something on the road with you like a banana or a protein bar, or to drink a smoothie or a juice.
I have either the following
-Rolled oats with organic maple syrup
-A bowl of scrambled eggs ( 1 egg and 2 egg whites with a dash of milk, salt and pepper and lite cheese)
-Avocado, tomato and bacon on toast with mushrooms
-Various smoothies- banana, frozen berries, tsp coconut oil, protein powder, rolled oats, greens powder, ice, greek yoghurt, almond or soy milk.
Considering I am still at school I will normally have my next meal/snack at recess which is 10:15am. I will normally take to school up to two of the following below.
-Plain rice crackers
-A serve of fruit ( pear, apple, container of berries) whatever I have at home
My lunches on weekdays and weekends are generally the same kind of meal, only difference is my meals on weekends are prepared. What I like to do is buy a massive pack of plastic chinese containers and on a Sunday afternoon cook up my meals for school.
-Grilled chicken with avocado and lettuce
-Turkey balls with rice and satay sauce
-Sweet potato with steak or grilled chicken
-Falafel or chicken in a wrap with lettuce, avocado, tomato
For dinner, it will normally be my mums cooking, we occasionally have takeaways like thai, kebabs or chinese but generally mum will make some sort of meat with a variety of vegetables wether that be served on a plate or in a stir fry. Some of my favourite dinners my mum prepares are
-Healthy chicken burgers with homemade sweet potato wedges
-Butter chicken with a healthy twist
-San Choy Bau
I also alternate recipes that I put up on my blog into my diet ( stay tuned for more ) and remember to drink ATLEAST 2 litres of water a day!
