"Men always say that as the defining compliment, don't they? She's a cool girl. Being the Cool Girl means I am a hot, brilliant, funny woman who adores football, poker, dirty jokes, and burping, who plays video games, drinks cheap beer, loves threesomes and anal sex, and jams hot dogs and hamburgers into her mouth like she's hosting the world's biggest culinary gang bang while somehow maintaining a size 2, because Cool Girls are above all hot. Hot and understanding. Cool Girls never get angry; they only smile in a chagrined, loving manner and let their men do whatever they want. Go ahead, shit on me, I don't mind, I'm the Cool Girl.

Men actually think this girl exists. Maybe they’re fooled because so many women are willing to pretend to be this girl. For a long time Cool Girl offended me. I used to see men – friends, coworkers, strangers – giddy over these awful pretender women, and I’d want to sit these men down and calmly say: You are not dating a woman, you are dating a woman who has watched too many movies written by socially awkward men who’d like to believe that this kind of woman exists and might kiss them. I’d want to grab the poor guy by his lapels or messenger bag and say: The bitch doesn’t really love chili dogs that much – no one loves chili dogs that much! And the Cool Girls are even more pathetic: They’re not even pretending to be the woman they want to be, they’re pretending to be the woman a man wants them to be. Oh, and if you’re not a Cool Girl, I beg you not to believe that your man doesn’t want the Cool Girl. It may be a slightly different version – maybe he’s a vegetarian, so Cool Girl loves seitan and is great with dogs; or maybe he’s a hipster artist, so Cool Girl is a tattooed, bespectacled nerd who loves comics. There are variations to the window dressing, but believe me, he wants Cool Girl, who is basically the girl who likes every fucking thing he likes and doesn’t ever complain. (How do you know you’re not Cool Girl? Because he says things like: “I like strong women.” If he says that to you, he will at some point fuck someone else. Because “I like strong women” is code for “I hate strong women.”)”

I know what you might be thinking, "but summer's not over yet!?" While that might be true, autumn is fast approaching and you can't be too prepared for the cozy season that awaits us all. Lit candles, crunchy leaves and cups of hot beverages.... I can't wait.

To reflect that, I thought I would share some of the things which I'm really looking forward to using in these months to come! I'm one of those people who like to change a few things up every now and then to stay true to both my mood and the season. Below are a few things I believe will be personal favorites of the season!

YOGI TEA - Sweet Chai

This Yogi Tea isn't actually a purchase of my own, but one my mom made when she was in the city recently. It's in the flavor Sweet Chai and when I had a cup the other day it brought me right back to my college days. There was a coffee shop I passed everyday on my way to school and during fall I would often stop and buy a Chai Latte. Needless to say, I love all things Chai! You can read more about the tea HERE and if you happen to have a moment, I would definitely recommend browsing their website a while - I love it!

Ted Baker Eye Shadow Trio

I have to admit that before I moved to England I had never heard of this brand, and even then I was not instantly a fan. They make a lot of bags, purses and toiletry bags (often in plastic materials and decorative bows) and their designs weren't for me, sadly. Then this spring I was given a gift box full of makeup from Ted Baker. If your familiar with the brand you might be as surprised to hear this as I was when I opened the box, I was sure that the closest the brand came to selling makeup was their makeup bags! I tried browsing their website just earlier today, to look for the names or codes of the colors in this trip but couldn't find any - in fact, I couldn't find any makeup at all. Could be that it was a one off, either way the three colors are perfect for warm and autumnal looks!

Make Up Store Perfume - All Through Genuine

I remember when I first came across Make Up Store's perfume range and how I fell in love with their packaging. The bottles come in square shapes, are matte black and all have a quote or saying on the back. This particular one reads as follows, "I am confident and love anything that's genuine. My purse, heels and pearls always keep me company. I am looking for some handsome company, perhaps in a suit. Someone who whisks me off to Paris for romantic weekends." It was given to me by a friend a while back and while I'm unsure whether she went by the scent or the quote on the back, I'm definitely a fan of both!

Chelsie's Organic Chia Pudding

Another one of my mother's purchased, though this product she bought specifically for me! I was quite late to jump on the Chia Pudding bandwagon, but now that I'm on it I don't ever want to get off. Until now, I've used Chis Seeds on their own but this mix brings the pudding to a new level. it is handmade with the following 100% organic ingredients: chia seeds, hemp seeds, buckwheat, raisins, cranberries, apple bits and cinnamon. Yum, a perfect mix for when the cold starts sweeping in! I love using Chia Seeds for a wide range of different things, but this mix I think I'll be using exclusively for my breakfast puddings, though.

Homemade Choker

This little assembly of beads is one of my homemade chokers! I love that wearing chokers is back in style and that there are so many different takes on them, everything from wide satin to thin beads, pearls and diamonds. I remember when they started coming back, I would spot them in stores and always be quite shocked at the prizes they were being sold for. After all, there's not much to a choker! So, I started making my own instead and today I am happy to say that I've got quite the collection. This one is perfect for autumn too, because it's quite dainty (perfect for thicker tops and sweaters) and dark (the colors of the beads are, according to myself, a great combination for the season). Join me in keeping this trend alive past summer!

ApPeel Notebook

No pun intended. The paper in ApPeel's unique journals and notebooks is made from apple pulp after it's been skinned and squeezed for juice. How cool is that!? I try to always keep a smaller sized notebook in my bags, regardless of whether I'm going to work or getting on a flight. It's just really handy for a list maker and lover like myself! This one I just thought was perfect for fall because of both the colors and design. On top of it all, all ApPeel products are eco-friendly and 'animal lovers', so you can scribble in good conscience!

That was it for this post, I hope you enjoyed hearing about some of the products I'm excited to start using to get me in the right spirits for autumn! We'll have to wait and see what other products, old or new, might find their way into my heart as I am planning on doing monthly favorites here on Mariabella. I'm thinking September would be a good month to start, leaving me some time to figure out how I want to tailor the concept to my own liking. How does that sound?

It's Friday, finally Friday! Another week has flown by and it's high time for another blog post.

The week has been busy, packed full with both work and pleasure. I don't mind it, I like it when things move at a high speed and the quicker I get to tick the little boxes on my To Do list the happier I am! Tuesday I went back to the offices where I will officially start working in September, until then I'll be there every now and then to get comfortable and learn the ropes. I'm loving it so far, there's a great atmosphere and (even though I know it's a mere bonus) the design is beautiful. I believe things like that can make a huge difference, they do for me!

Wednesday I managed to meet up with an old college friend of mine and boy did we have a nice day out. Her and I haven't had the chance to see each other as often as I would have liked since we graduated in 2013, between her hectic schedule and me living out of the country there just weren't enough opportunities. Still, we have made the best of it and made sure to meet up as soon as I've been back in Stockholm over the holidays and such. Anyway, back to Wednesday! We met up for some Sushi, as we almost always do, before heading out on a real adventure! I say adventure because we actually managed to get lost, even though Stockholm is both of ours hometown... I'm happy we did, though, because we got the see parts of the city neither one of us had before, beautiful parts which almost made us feel as though we'd been transported away to another city entirely!

Thursday was very much a boring day for me, not much was going on and to be honest I was in a bit of a rot. Everybody has those days, and to those who don't: what's your secret?!

This all brings me to the present, to this sunny Friday in August. I've got the day off again but that doesn't mean I'll be here sitting still and looking pretty. No, I've got enough to keep me busy throughout the day and then some! Right now I'm sat enjoying a snack, bananas with peanut butter and then this mushy drink-like thing I threw together. It's not really a smoothie or a juice, but... Well, mush. Filled with antioxidants, it's a real healthy blend with a bit of a kick to it courtesy of the fresh ginger and ground cayenne pepper!

The main ingredients to my healthy, mushy blend? Fresh blueberries from our very own garden, frozen spinach, fresh ginger, a ripe banana, water and some ground cayenne pepper... It's not as terrible as it sounds, I promise.

Much like the week leading up to it, this day is flying by and it's time for me to close my computer and get stuff done! Tonight, it's family night. I'm looking forward to hanging out with everyone and catching up properly what with all that's happened this week. As much as I'm looking forward to tonight, though, I think I'm even more excited about tomorrow. Why? I'm glad you asked! Tomorrow, Saturday, it's time for Bubbles & Brunch at Bergmans Sthlm! A guaranteed fun day out with a great group of people, just what the doctor ordered!

Back to school season is in full swing and today my younger brother started college, oh how time flies! He came home from his first day just a little while ago, a ray of sunshine eager to tell me all about it. It brought me back in time, back to when I first started college myself. I remember it like it was yesterday, down to the very last detail.

Six years ago, it was me who was stood at the bus stop with butterflies in my stomach and anticipation in my eyes. I had picked out an outfit the night before; some light was jeans, a striped top from A&F and a pink leather jacket with 3/4 sleeves from Zara... It was cute enough, but if given the chance to go back and change it I definitely would! Three years later I was about to start university, feeling on top of the world and ready to take on whatever challenge the world might decide to throw at me. That being said, I don't think I had a clue what I was getting into, the lessons I'd learn or the memories I'd make.

Fast-forward to today, another three years on. I'm back living in Sweden and just starting a new job. It's an exciting time for my brother and I both, which brings me to why I've started this blog! As someone who has always been very fond of diaries but not very good at keeping them, I've been fond of blogging since I was quite a bit younger. Not only was it an easy way to write, it was interactive too! Also, because I've made many a friend in many a place and have my family all over the place, writing a blog became a fun and easy way to keep everyone up to date. This blog is a creative space where I want to do just that, share my life experiences and keep people up to date. But I won't stop there, I also want to share my interests, likes and opinions with anyone who might be interested. There will be everything from column like texts, my favorites recipes, tips & tricks and so much more. A written glimpse into my life and mind for whoever is curious enough to read it!

So, without further ado, welcome to Mariabella!
