If you ever went shopping for a concealer and while you’re there noticed that they also come in some crazy colours that don’t match any normal skin tones? Colours such as mint green, lavender pastel and banana colored yellows? In fact these concealers are meant to blend well with your skin, this new techniques is called “Color Correcting ” and am here to tell you all about it.

How this technique works is that it hides any flaws such as scars, under eyes circles and pimples that you might not want (If you don’t mind them then that’s good for you)

Shown in the color wheel down below, color correcting is supposed to hide the color that is opposing it. For ex. Red spots are hidden with the color green.

After you find what you’re looking for, you can use the different colors to hide certain flaws that you feel uncomfortable with using the right colors.

Down below you will find a picture showing you how you can use color correction on different skin tones:

After you’re done with this step you can apply foundation as you normally would and continue on with your casual makeup routine.

I hope you enjoyed this post and if you did then stay tuned for more

How to contour your face with makeup #1

Makeup artists a variety of techniques to contour the face; some prefer to use powders, and some prefer to use creams after they are done applying the foundation. Follow my tips on how to contour your face to help you achieve the look you want.

Face Contouring is mostly about creating both shadow and light to enhance the shape of the face either to achieve an illusion of higher cheekbones, a slimmer face or shorten the nose.

Different face shapes work differently with contouring or shaping, some will find themselves needing more highlighting whereas others will use more contouring to help create the shape they want.

First thing you need to do is decide is what is your face shape, guided by the diagram you learn how to contour your face shape just about right!

Below is my step by step guide not based on a face shape, I've added some extra tips below according to face shape.

  1. Sweep your contour colour under your cheekbone using a soft, angled brush. You can find your cheekbone easily using your fingers – the colour should go in the hollow just beneath it. At this point the colour will look quite strong, but don’t panic! This is where we blend; using your fingers, blend the line upwards. If you blend down, you will lose the height of your cheekbone and your face will just look muddy.
  2. Blend the contour colour into the hairline. This will help give your skin a healthy glow and disguise a large or flat forehead.
  3. To make your nose look straighter, use your fingers to rub a little contour powder along the sides of your nose. Blend well. Don’t go right to the tip of your nose or it will end up looking too thin. If you want your nose to appear shorter, run a little contour along the nostrils.
  4. If your chin is starting to droop a little, just sweep a touch of contour powder under the jaw line to instantly hide any saggy bits and look years younger.
  5. My top tip when contouring: to get that celebrity look, brush a little bit of the contour powder above the inner corner of your eye up to the brow – you’ll instantly see your eyes look more defined and really pop!

  1. Highlighter reflects the light well, so only apply it to the places you want to draw attention to. Sweep it above the cheekbone, along the brow bone and down the centre of your nose to give the impression of a rounded surface.
  2. As a finishing touch, dab a little bit of highlighter onto your cupid’s bow (the little dip in your upper lip).
  3. TOP TIP: to make your cheekbones really stand out, using a large powder brush, sweep a loose face powder like my INVISIBLE VEIL POWDER along the lower jaw, under where we’ve applied the contour for the cheekbone.

Eyebrows have become a the center of attention i=on social media and different platforms nowadays as they are a way of framing your face and completing different makeup looks.

If you have been struggling with shaping and filling in your eyebrows then here and article that might help you

Step 1: Define the shape of your eyebrows

Finding the shape of your eyebrow is the most important step in defining. Follow these instructions:

  1. First find out where you bro should begin (point A), align a flat makeup brush to the outside of your nose and the inner corner of your eyes.
  2. Find your arch, (point B) and light the flat brush diagonally along with your nose stills.
  3. Find out where your eyebrow should end (point C) going down the outer corner of your eyes, diagonally down toward the outside corner of your nose.

Step 2:

Once you have determined the shape of your eyebrows you can now start to fill them in!

Using a brow pencil, powder of pomade, start connecting all the points you have made earlier.

  1. Starting from the arch of your eyebrows, down to the end of your eyebrow, begin to fill in using the brow tool that you have chosen.
  2. Then, after filling that in, start filling in from the arch towards the form on the brow without going directly into the front.
  3. Finally start filling in the front of your eyebrow. Avoid using more product and apply less pressure to give your eyebrows a natural look.

Step 3:

This step is Optional, but if you want to give your eyebrow more definition you can

  1. Use your favorite concealer and a flat brush to apply the concealer under your eyebrows.
  2. After that’s done, you can apply your favorite highlighter on the brow bone to brighten them up.
