This weekend was really busy for me. Altogether I spent 10 hours working in Winny Garaz baking cakes;
-chocolate cake with cinnamon cream and punch made of rum, water and spice
-chocolate cake with nuts and mascarpone cream
-coffee cheesecake with icing made of white chocolate
-tart with lemon curd and meringue
Ms Ela went on one-week vacations. Thus I needed to be every day in stable, apart from ridings, to prepare her meals, get more hay and clean her stall. Takami’s owner new that her horse was in good hands, so she told me that she finally relaxed a little on her short break.
Trainings also went pretty well. At last, I started small jumping sessions with Takami, and I could feel how pleased she was with it from her joyful jumps and the way she put her ears to the front. I hope that at the end of November if the trainings go well, we will be able to cross some more advanced jumping combinations than the single fence. However, this requires building up stronger muscles in Takami’s legs so I am prepared that it can take more time.
Although today's training wasn’t as good as it was last time, I am still very proud of how fast Takami is learning and improving. Thanks to my trainer – Marta – I have some photos that can prove how well she finally started to work with her rump. I think it is partially a consequence of exercises on poles that I trained with Takami this whole week.
Next week I am going to start work with cavaletti in order to make her gallop more “round” (lift her legs and upper body higher, so that while galloping she will look more like if she were jumping over poles that aren’t there).
This time my client ordered a very challenging cake for me, cake for her daughter’s first birthday. It was challenging because I never baked a cake for such young person and I didn’t know which products I can’t use, how to do punch if I cannot use alcohol and how to decorate it, for this girl to like it? However, after some time of reading and playing with food colouring, I finally came with an idea of pink ombre cake with mascarpone cream and fruits. I was really fond of it, and as I heard from my client later, the girl was also 😊.
Today our visit in Instytut Matki I Dziecka was unfortunately pretty short. We talked for a little while with Bartek, who was new here, however his parents came and as we felt that they rather stayed alone, we left. Then we tried to talk to somebody else or play in something, however as no one was interested, we went home.
Days like that happen sometimes, you can’t force your help so it's better to leave than oppress someone with your presence.
Winter is coming, so the most popular sweet now is… chocolate! That is why my most recent order was chocolate cake for Filip’s 7 birthday. I believe, that this cake from high-quality dark chocolate together with milky chocolate mousse and hand-made chocolate decorations, made Filip’s birthday even better :D.
This time there was a bit of a rush in Instytut Matki I Dziecka, as foundation “Herosi” came there to make pancakes with the kids. Almost all kids were taking part in this event, we went straight to the oldest patient - Maciek, as he wasn’t interested in it. We played UNO with him for almost an hour and chatted about the news when his brother and mother came with dinner. After he ate it Maciek and his brother taught me and Karolina new cards game -strategic one. It was fun to learn it and I am looking forward to playing with them once more.
Today was a bit harder than I imagined. Pleased with previous achievements Marta decided to work on the gallop, which brought a lot of difficulties. Takami was tense and didn’t want to cooperate. At the end of the training, I was able to make her relax her muscles a little, but still, it wasn’t what I was going for. However, I am not giving up. On the contrary, I am already waiting for next training to make things better.
For my mother’s birthday, I choose to make pavlova with baked plums and whipped cream. She was really happy when I gave it to her together with a cup of coffee on the morning of her birthday 😊.
