"I am not who I was one year ago and maybe, just this once, change is good"

05/31/2017-Last day in USA

"Goodbye" for me its a big word because It means a lot for I fight to do, enjoy and love, I think its a big word to say it just because its sad, see how 10 months pass like in a week and for me this last few moths where amazing, I think I am not ready to go and see again my friends because maybe its just the Big change that I made but I am ready for my family lol. I like more "See you soon" because you are not saying goodbye to your host family and friends you just say that you will come back and see them and also "Thank you" because what they did for me was amazing, they gave me a second family to be during 10 months with Love, laught...
EF said that here in US, we will make brothers and sisters forever and It's true, I got 2 sisters older than me and more friends that they are also sisters for me.
This experience gave me all what I am proud to be right now and the girl that I am right now is the one I always wanted to be when I was a year ago. Also I think destiny want everyone of the Exchange students from different countries want to do this, I think my destiny was been here for a year, met all the people that I know here, that help me to be the person who I am now, so...

"THANK YOU,THANK YOU and more THANK YOU" to everyperson who is now in my life and make this possible!!

"It's time to hang our caps and googles"

Here in Alabama I could continue swimming and It was one of the things that I really wanted to continue because I really like swimming. This was my first year swimming in a team, I used to swim in Spain but not in a team and it was really good, I used to go to practice with some friends because I couldn't drive so they take me there and we practice aroound an hour and a half. We used to go to competitions on Tuesdays and we used to compete with four more teams. Our team wasn't really big, but most of the competitions in teams of four we used to swim that ones. We used to go after school to competitions and that ones start at 6 or 6:30 more or less and it finish around 9 and then we used to go to eat dinner. We also practice Thursday and Friday but Friday less time because then it's the football game and people wants to go to watch it.

My experience was good but what they do here is they have seasons and this one was between September to November.

I miss swimming 🏊

"Life is too short to waste time hatting anyone"

My first month I still remember it. I was the new girl, the exchange student who doesn't speak a lot English and I remember get at the school and I was super happy because I am doing another step of my adventure, also I remember go to my homeroom and one girl she was really nice and I still be friends with her help me so much to be involve here with making friends, I stated have classes and of course people when they see my name they know that I am new and I am an exchange student because they cant even say my last name they try but the just said my name lol. I started the swimming team that was one of the best things I made here, I enjoyed I also wanted dance ballet here but It was the same time as swimming and I decided for swimming because this will help me to make friends, also I have problems with my English class because I was in AP class and It was difficult for me and I didn't even have any idea about most of the things that they were learning and my host family and IEC (International Exchange Coordinator) said me that I have to change and It was the best change because then I was in regular English and I was good. I always said that all that I cry that month I don't cry now. After pass this hard month all start to be good but of course I still have some problems sometimes because not always, everything is good.

"a person who spends some time at another's home in a social activity, as a visit or party."

This is the definition of host family but I think is more than this definition. A host famlily is a famliy that maybe you know maybe not in my case not I didn't know them and what they do is give you a place to live for a year, food, they take you some places... When you are with the host family, you have to learn their rules, you learn their form of life. I think this is a great opportunity because you are experimenting new things and they too because they learn about your culture, with my host family I am learning how is the South (Alabama) that is so different than the north and what we see, it's true that the movie Sweet Home Alabma help you to have an idea before came here but the best thing is come here an see it. I went to the North of Alabama to visit it because my host family lives in the South of Alabama, one hour to the north from the gulf of Mexico, for that reason I love it, I only have one short hour to go to the beach while in Spain I have between 3 to 7 or more hours, anyways, I also went to Colorado this January with them and It was so fun trip, also I see what is Christmas for them, what they do, Thanksgiving that for me was really good I enjoyed go with my host famlily and their family and I have never had before Thanksgiving and be with family, have a great time an watch the Alabama vs Aurbun was funny ( I didn't watched to much, and I don't really understand it lol). I love this famliy, they help me so much with my first days at the High School, making friends, supporting me in swimming competitions...

I don't have words to describe all what they do for me becuase the opportunity to see the South and live with them for a year it's incredible and I am goign to miss so much this because It's only one year and It's the opportunity of my life and I will never making true if my parents let me do this and this family host me. the only thing that I can really say always is THANK YOU 💗

"Traveling is like loving is an attemp to transfor a dream into a reality"

Hi everyone!!!

My post today is about this EF Camp that I went in Allentown Pensylvania, where it was the next step after leave home because this help me to start to talk english before go with my hostfamily. This camp was 10 amazing days that I will always remember, for all the amazing friendships that I made there and I still have and I still talk to them.

The Camp made four teams and each team has four different calsses that there are people from different nationalities and maybe can be someone of your same country but the thing is try to talk in english with people from same or different country anyways, then you have four clases a day, each one is different also the monitors are exchange students from other years and they help you telling you how was their stories but you know that is not going to be the same story.

We went to watch a baseball game and it was my first baseball game and I didn't understand really well but I really love it and now when I go to watch some baseball games at my high school I really enjoyed, also we went to NY for a day and It was my first time too and I love it I was a little hot because It was Summer but I love it. We went to the 09/11 memorial, Times Square, The Top of the Rock, High Line Park and The Statue of Liberty. We also did some activites at night like a gymkana or a volleyball tournament...

We did a small "Prom" the last day before people start the adventure and it was fun, we dance, cry a lot 😭 lol.

I think it was the best opportunity and I hope I will be an Ambassador to see all the people of the Class of 2018 and tell my story.

Why I choose Ef?

That is one of the queston that people ask and I said: Because is one of the best programs of exchange years, they were doing this for 50 years, This is a program who works with so many different countries, EF in Spain give you the option to came to USA to study for a year or half a year, whatever you want to do. I am doing a year. My process was a little difficult because I decided to do it in December of 2015 and once I pass the test because to do this you need to understand english, speak it and write it. When you pass you have to do a porfolio about you, that one help you to find the host family, one of that things is that the famliy choose you. My family choose in July and I had almost a month to get ready to came here and saying goodbye to my family. One of the things that people is worry said i that you maybe will lose friends and thats not true, I didn't lose my friends and I met new people that I enjoy meet with them and some they are my best friends and they help me so much. I will always keep that friendships that I maade and I will come here to visit them. Also some countries convalidate your year but some not, the good part of Spain is that they do that and I like it because I don't have to lose one year I have friends that they do half a year to don't lose it but other they only come for the experience and I come for that too but I need to study a little to pass the year but I enjoy it and I am getting fun here and this is really different, the place, the form of life.
