It is time for that new year new me thing to commence. The party is over and I am quitting sugar as off tomorrow in my diet! I am even cutting out fruits πŸ™… also it is time for me to get back on my vegan diet. I might eat some eggs, 80% (or more) chocolate ans some Faroese fish my parents brought me though 😝maybe not so vegan but at least dairy free, lol. Besides that I am also trying to avoid gluten as much as I can. Actually had gluten-free beer over Christmas, it was yum! πŸΊπŸ‘Œ No sugar also means no alcohol though! ☝

These last few weeks have nearly just consisted of eating - and not healthy eating that is! Too much sugar has been consumed and it is time for a sugar detox. I have done it before and after two weeks I did not even crave sugar anymore so it is just about being persistent! πŸ’ͺπŸ‘Š The longest I have gone without any sugar was 3 months. I am going to try see if I can beat my record this time around 😜

It is like there is a bigger pressure on my if I post it here, lol. Might encourage me even further in the tough sugar-craving moments to come the next couple of weeks πŸ’ͺ

Sugar actually makes me have mood swings, makes me feel tired and even slightly depressed and it is just a vicious circle with sugar addiction - it just tastes so damn good, lol. Trust me on this though!! Two weeks in you will not even crave it 😁

Coucou and HAPPY NEW YEAR! ✨


It has been another hot minute since my last post but that pattern is about to change in 2018! πŸ’

I have been busy with my internship, writing an internship assignment for uni and enjoying Paris these last few months hence the silence on my blog (which turns 1 soon, lol). I am back and more motivated than ever sharing tips and tricks about skin care and other things with you - stay tuned for a lot of new posts in 2018!

New Years Eve right before midnight I realized that my backpack had been unzipped and my wallet stolen from it. I was in choc at first and then I just got furious. I hope whoever went into my bag is followed by bad karma! It was such a transcendent experience πŸ˜“ because of this event I envisioned that 2018 was not going to be my year - not at all!

We (and probably more than a million other people) were at Champs Γ‰lysΓ©es watching the magnificent fireworks from the Arc de Triomphe which started at midnight. Such a beautiful sight to experience although I was still so angry, lol.

The next day, 1st of January I received a message on Facebook from a man who told me he had found my wallet in a bin at Burger King by Champs Γ‰lysΓ©es πŸ™ how lucky and blessed can one be?! And what a wonderful human being he is! The thought of all my personal information just laying around somewhere for everyone to see was haunting me! Facebook is an amazing tool and thank God I have a "special" name so I am easy to find, lol. Not that it is very special in itself but the combination is rare if not one of a kind πŸ˜‰ So I think it turned out to be my year nonetheless. I believe in karma and that if you spread positivity and good vibes it is also what you will get in return ✌

So 2018 started off very well finally and so far I am doing great this year πŸ˜πŸ™ For this year I am planning on a lot more self care, health, wellness, staying positive, more adventures and making great memories β€πŸ’ƒβœ¨

I hope everyone had an amazing first week in 2018 and will enjoy the first weekend of the new year as well!

December is around the corner and I am so excited πŸŽ„ I love Christmas and everything that goes with it!

At the office we have the Advent calendar from Yves Rocher and I cannot wait to see what kind of products are in it πŸ’ Getting an Advent calendar like the ones above is a great way to either test out some products or save money on some products you would have bought anyways! I wish I could have all of the above, lol.

The calendars above have either 24 or 25 gifts in them. The celebration of Christmas all depends on where in the world you are. In France, Christmas is mainly celebrated the 25th of December where as in Denmark the 24th of December is the main celebration day!

They already put up Christmas lights in Paris and I am just waiting for them to be lit ✨ I love walking around the streets when it is slightly dark and the beautiful Christmas lights are on - so cozy and so pretty! 😍

I am so ready to decorate my home with Christmas decorations but I have to stick out the excitement and wait for just a little longer, lol.

I have just been off to a mini holiday in the South of France to see my hubby and last night I was having pizza and other good stuff with some friends so I have not exactly been eating all plant based this week. Though, tomorrow is Monday and I am going back to my plant based everyday life diet πŸ˜‰πŸ’š

I thought I would show you what I put in to my shopping basket (nearly) every time I go grocery shopping πŸ’

I always use red onions as they contain loads of good nutrients and just taste better than a regular white onion 😝

Walnuts and almonds I always add to my cereals in the morning (mostly muesli) along with one banana. I use either a sugar free soy drink or almond milk for my cereals. In my coffee I use sugar free soy drink β˜•

Sweet potatoes, kale and spinach are rich in protein so I mostly use them as a meat substitute ✌

Avocados are rich in healthy fat and vitamins which we need in our diet πŸ’ͺ Tomatoes are high in water content and potassium which means they are hydrating and can prevent cardiovascular disease.

Along with my vegetables I will mostly have quinoa, gluten free pasta or brown rice.

I put garlic in nearly all meals I make just cause I love it, lol. Garlic is not only yummy but also contains loads of good nutrients and can help prevent us from colds and flues, just what we want this time of the year! β›„

Carrots are great for having a snack. I will normally dip them into hummus, yum! 😍 Another great and easy-to-make snack is popcorn. Do not buy those crazy greasy and salty packs to put in the microwave 😷 all you need to make your own popcorn is some oil (I use olive oil) in a pot, fill the bottom with the corn, put on the lid and wait till you hear it popping. You will hear when it is done popping 😜 I put the hotplate on medium heat to prevent them burning at the bottom.

I am sitting here enjoying my daily cup of green tea (it is 9 pm on Tuesday at the moment πŸ˜‰). Nothing better than winding down after a long day with a warm cup of tea 🍡 I love green tea and actually never (or very rarely) buy black tea.

Just when I was started writing this post my friend sent me a photo of a cup of green tea she was having at a cafΓ© with the caption "It is tea time", lol. I could not agree more, must be telepathy πŸ˜„

There are plenty of reasons why you should be drinking green tea. Here are a few:

  • Green tea is packed with antioxidants which reduce the formation of free radicals in our body. Free radicals cause (amongst many things) aging in skin.
  • Green tea increases fat burning and is therefore a great way to assist in weight loss.
  • Green tea can lower the growth of bacteria and some viruses and also lower risk of caries and bad breath.
  • Green tea can also aid in keeping blood sugar levels stable. I find that a cup of green tea can help if I am craving sugar. You should try it! 😜

October is official Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I send out thoughts to those (who have been) struggling with breast cancer or any other type of cancer πŸŽ€β€

Once people (mostly women) get diagnosed with breast cancer they are often told to switch over to deodorants which are aluminium free. A lot of studies have been made about the link between breast cancer and deodorants with harmful ingredients. Although it is not conclusive if there is a link between the two it is better being precautious!

Personally I have two different deodorants on my beauty shelf which are both free of aluminium. I have this one from Charlotte Family Bio (especially made for women who are pregnant, I believe. I am not but who cares, lol!) and this one from Le Petit Marseillais. Both very affordable and long lasting ✌

Last weekend I watched the documentary "What the Health?" on Netflix. It honestly made me paranoid, lol. It is definitely worth a watch and will make you think twice about what you consume!

I am starting to wonder whether or not it is time to go vegan. I think for me personally it would work perfectly fine with a plant based diet in my everyday life. It is honestly not hard avoiding animal based products and you can make just as yummy food which you know is good for you and your body.

In fact my last (and recent) grocery shopping was all plant based so I am going to give it a shot being vegan in my everyday life for now! 😁

Personally I think I would "cheat" if eating out and on Christmas etc. as it is annoying to be the person who always wants something other than whatever everybody else is having. Also, I do enjoy a traditional Christmas dinner, milk in my coffee, cheese and other animal based products πŸ˜‚

Anyways, go watch the documentary if you did not already! It is very interesting!

There are plenty of health benefits to why you should be hugging everyday!

Hugs can release the hormone Oxytocin which makes us feel relaxed and content. Also it can release endorphins in our body which can function as a pain reliever! So if you are feeling a bit under the weather a hug could be the cure 😍

Hugging can also increase dopamine levels in the brain and can therefore boost our mood. So if both serotonin and dopamine are released you will feel an instant boost in your mood for the better ✌

Giving and receiving hugs can also lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol and will calm you as well as make your body relax.

Last it can also reduce worry. Study has found that even hugging a teddy can soothe your fears and worries 🐻

Coffee is healthy! It is full of antioxidants and beneficial nutrients which are good for our body β˜•

The caffeine in coffee can improve energy level, our mood and some aspects of our brain function. As with everything an overuse is never a good idea.

Coffee contains several important nutrients such as Potassium and Magnesium. Potassium, for example, is good for bone and muscle maintenance. Magnesium is a mineral that supports hundreds of chemical reactions in your body.

It is also said that coffee might be the biggest source to antioxidants for "Westerners" which often do not get enough of fruit and vegetables!

If you do not like coffee a great alternative is Matcha tea which is also packed with antioxidants and contains caffeine as well 🍡

Personally I could not live without coffee. I need one coffee in the morning and one after I have had my lunch. Sometimes even more. As a rule I do not drink coffee after 5 pm on days where I have to sleep relatively early β˜•
