I just got home from my holidays and I am SO sleepy! I have been up since 3:30 this morning and on the move since 6:00 💤 Traveling is exhausting, lol. Just got out of the shower and was sitting with this face mask from Nuxe on for 10 minutes and have now put on this sheet mask from Starskin. My skin looks horrible after two flights in one day, not enough hydration and way too little sleep.

I am going straight to sleep afterwards and will be spraying on this lavender pillow mist from L'Occitane which I brought back home with me from France, I love it! 😍💜

Tomorrow it is back to the everyday life (unfortunately, lol) and I need a good nights sleep before it commences. Sleeping enough is very important to our health and here comes a few (maybe surprising) health benefits to sleep.

Sleeping can help you learn new things better. While you sleep you consolidate which can strengthen your memory.

Sleeping six hours or more is supposedly good to prevent inflammation a study from 2010 says.

A study from 2009 showed that children aged seven or eight and got less than eight hours of sleep every night could have ADHD-like symptoms. Children tend to get hyperactive when tired where as most grown-ups get sleepy.

Sleep and metabolism are controlled by the same part of our brain so a good nights sleep is very important if you wish to loose weight. If you are sleepy some hormones rise in your blood which make you have a bigger appetite.

Sleeping well can also help depression and anxiety. Emotional stability gets better when you are not sleepy.

Last but not least! If you tend to sleep longer on the weekends it means that you do not sleep enough throughout the rest of the week. I am definitely guilty of that some weekends, lol.

Thank you so much for reading and good night! ZzzzZ

Thursday my better half and I came back from a mini getaway in Girona in Spain. I was in great need of a few days off and enjoyed the stay so much! 😍

We stayed at DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel. It was clean, staff were friendly, had great breakfast buffet and the most gorgeous rooftop terrace with a view over Girona and the beautiful mountains surrounding the city 🌆👌

Tuesday morning we went to Ribes Del Ter Market which is on Tuesday and Saturday mornings every week. They had fresh fruit and vegetables, clothes, shoes, yummy churros and other things. I recommend a visit if you are ever in Girona 👌

We had great tapas at König Restaurant which I believe have two or three restaurants in Girona. Their patatas bravas were so good! 😜

Girona is a beautiful city. Quite similar to Barcelona just much smaller. Girona is also located in the Catalan part of Spain and only a short drive from Barcelona ✌

Thank you so much for reading and happy Easter Sunday! 💛

After being in a long distance relationship for ages now I have become very good at packing for several days with just hand luggage, lol. I do have one problem though. I can NEVER seem to fit all my skin care products in to that teeny tiny plastic bag you are allowed to bring in your hand luggage 😳 Am I the only one with that problem?!

Anyways I think that all skin care products should come with a travel size! It is just annoying and too much of a hassle to buy those travel sets every time to then pour over all your skin care in them.

Luckily I got, among other things, a Konjac sponge for my birthday from a friend of mine which helped me save just a little bit of space! I brought the sponge instead of my peeling/exfoliator 💁 So that is a little travel tip if you, like me, cannot fit everything in to that plastic bag, lol.

I linked to different Konjac sponges above for all the different skin types ✌

Wishing everyone a happy Easter 💛 I hope you are enjoying the holidays as much as I am 💃

I got this really huge pimple on my cheek the other day so yesterday I decided to try out the toothpaste trick. You have probably heard about it or even tried it yourself.

As I do not have any Mario Badescu Drying Lotion or Dr. Organic Pure Oil Tea Tree at the moment I decided to put on some toothpaste. It did not work, lol. It is not recommendable to put on your skin. Toothpaste is for your teeth, not your skin. It did not dry out my skin or anything but it can. Applying toothpaste to skin can over dry or even burn skin so do not try it at home 😜

Toothpaste often contains baking soda, alcohol, menthol and essential oils which can dry out pimples but as said before; toothpaste is for your teeth!

Even applying Tea Tree Oil (which is a natural antiseptic) can be dangerous so always try a little area on your skin to see how you react to it before applying more 😉

Popping pimples is never a good idea unless you know how to do it correctly. Most of the time patience is key when it comes to pimples, lol. Unfortunately!!!!

Atrophic means loss of tissue and that is what happens or has happened when you suffer from the skin condition atrophic skin. You can basically say that the top layer of the skin (epidermis) has "burnt" off.

There are two different types of atrophic skin - age related or caused by environmental factors.

The age related atrophic skin is characterized by a fairly grey or pale complexion, bad blood circulation, seems thin, is dry, has deep wrinkles and lacks elasticity, structure is uneven and there will likely be hyper pigmentation.

The environmental atrophic skin condition is characterized by a leathery surface, large pores, comedones (blackheads) and has lines/wrinkles and lacks elasticity.

Atrophic skin can be genetic but is mostly caused by stress, sun, smoking or free radicals. It is very important to always wear sunscreen (either in your moisturizer or your foundation/powder), lead a healthy lifestyle and make sure to include antioxidants in your skin care and diet to avoid this skin condition which is basically permanent once it appears.

Often environmental atrophic skin condition is caused by too much sun. Please avoid sunbed centers! 🙏 To me they should be illegal. If you wish a tanned complexion fake tanning is a much better solution 😁 not that I never went to one myself in the past but today I would never ever consider it! 👼

One of the most important things to do if you have atrophic skin is to nurture cell metabolism by moisturizing a lot! Preferably a moisturizer with antioxidants. You should also stimulate blood circulation by massaging. Always massage and apply products on your face in upward motions. Fight against gravity, lol 😜

I caught a terrible cold so today I am staying under the duvet eating loads of vitamin C and watching Netflix.

Vitamin C is an essential for the body for the development of scar tissue and blood vessels. Vitamin C is also an essential for creating ATP, dopamine, peptide hormones and tyrosine. Vitamin C is also a powerful antioxidant which decreases oxidative stress to the body.

Foods such as bell peppers, kale, broccoli, kiwifruits, berries and citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C.

I just booked my flights for the Easter holidays today so I thought I would make a post about the importance of taking some time off every now and then! 😁

Today stress is one of the most common diseases in a large segment of the world's population. Because of that it is very important to remember to take some time off from the everyday life and simply just relax! 💆

I am not very fond of those kind of holidays where you have a strict schedule and an activity planned every day, lol. That just leaves me more stressed than I was before departure 😄 On the other hand I am not a big fan of those all inclusive holidays either. To me that just gets boring, lol.

I am mostly in to those holidays where there are a few cultural elements, trying out the local cuisine and if there is a nice beach nearby, I do not mind spending some time there too 😜

Below comes why you should remember to take time off to relax. You do obviously not need to do that while traveling, lol. Holidays at home are great too!

Relaxing is good for the heart. We often hear that high blood pressure, heart attacks and other heart problems can be stress related. Always take good care of your heart! ❤

Relaxing will lower your risk to catch a cold. Being stressed for a longer period of time can restrict the immune cells to fight against inflammation.

Relaxing is also very important to your memory. When we are too stressed we often tend to forget things, so by taking some time off we can give the brain a "break" and some time to refuel 😉

Relaxing is also said to prevent depression. The stress hormone cortisol can reduce the levels of serotonin and dopamine which are those who make us feel happy!

Relaxing can also help you stay slim! When we are stressed and the cortisol levels rise it leads to a bigger appetite and we will often crave something high in fat and sugar and stress makes it harder for us to resist.

Relaxing can even ease Acne. Stress is said to increase the skin's sebum production which can lead to clogged pores and impurities which can cause Acne. Psoriasis is also said to flare when you are stressed.

Seborrhoe Sicca also known as mistreated or wrongly treated skin is a skin condition which is very common and somewhat easy to treat.

If your skin feels parchment like and dry on the surface but still gets oily it might be because your skin is suffering from this skin condition. Normally a mistreated skin will have fine pores, a lot of closed comedones (under surface blackheads which you only see if you stretch out skin), can have a lot of impurities and teleangiecstasia (redness).

A lot of estheticians will tell you that you suffer from this condition if you use products from different brands. It is both a sales trick but can definitely also be true! When a brand makes a range of products these normally will go very well in hand and supplement each other. If you do use products from various brands there can be chemicals in the different brands which do not combine well or will work against each other. It is important to be aware of this when you purchase new skin care products.

Mistreated skin can occur if you use the wrong skin care, if you do not take care of your skin. Using just soap and water for your skin is deadly, lol 🙅☝ it only dries out the skin which is not something you wish to do!

To treat mistreated skin you need to find suitable products for your skin type. Read about the different skin types and conditions in the category section "Skin types and conditions" of my blog 😁 it is also very important to normalize the pH-value of your skin which normally should be around 5.0 pH.

Did you hear about multimasking before? It is a (relatively, lol) new concept in the world of skin care. I do not think it has to be explained very thorough as the word "multimasking" is quite self explanatory 😄

What you basically do is apply a different mask in different areas. For example you might have an oily T-zone where you want to apply a clay mask and dry cheeks where you want to apply a hydrating mask. On top of that you can layer a sheet mask on top of the other face masks you have got going on! It will give your skin optimal care and will feel like getting a professional facial 💁

This multimasking concept is very relevant to those with normal combination skin (me, lol)! Read about this skin type here.

Always make sure the masks you will use are suitable for your skin type but also able to treat your skin conditions. Read about the difference between a skin type and a skin condition here.

Last but not least multimasking will give you an excuse to buy or keep more than one face mask in your skin care supplies 😜 YAS!
