Oh wow. Whatever happened
There has been so many things going on over the past two weeks that blogging really wasn't a priority at all. I've been sick with the flu, and generally feeling down lately. But here are the highlights of what's been going on in my life !
On March 1st :
With some of my friends with whom I've went to Lisbon last month, we decided to gather around some good food and make the very Portuguese desert called Pasteis de Nata. When we were in Lisbon we had a huge thing about these pastels and we would laugh every time anyone mentioned them afterwards. And as we were feeling nostalgic, a month after coming back home, we decided to make them!
It ended up with me being alone in the kitchen making them, but that's fine I love to cook for friends. Before that we also made crepes and those were delicious too!
March 3rd :
I found out I'll be going back to uni again in September (yay!). It really lifted up my spirit as I was really not feeling well by that point, but it reassured me.
That evening my friend Léa and I went to the movies to watch Much Loved, and I really liked it.
We also fooled around with faceswap, which gave a terrible, terrible result.
The huge weekend was starting that weekend. I may have mentioned it before, but I am part of an association called ESN (Erasmus Student Network). For those of you who don't know what it is, it's basically students helping exchange students, organising events, helping them settle in their new homes for the semester or the year. It's truly a fulfilling experience and I'm so so happy to have decided to be a part of it since last September. ESN family for life!
So, my association is not just in my city, but there are fifteen sections in Switzerland, and hundreds more around the world. On that weekend, my section was organising the second National Platform of the year, where all the Swiss sections were invited to assist to plenaries, workshops, and of course, party!
We rented a big chalet, and we had to be there rather early in the day to start setting up everything before the first participants started arriving.
That first night it was a fluo party. I took with me these ridiculous orange tights, and a bright green tutu. My friend also had fluo paint and we made some cool shit with it.
I started feeling really bad and left the party to go sleep at maybe 2 am. I got really sick and barely left the bed the next day.
I did my best to leave bed and eat, but as soon as I'd get up I'd end up feeling like total crap, so I fathered just stay in bed most of the day and sleep it off.
That evening, was the second and last night at the chalet. During the day the participants had more plenaries and workshops, and on the evening was the (inter)national dinner. Everyone had to bring something from their region and share it with everyone, be it food, cheese (there was so much of it!), or wine. It was great how everyone contributed. We also gave the participants white t-shirts, because that evening was a draw your mind night! We had sharpies all around and people could sign or draw things on t-shirts.
Also ran out in the snow a little bit as soon as I felt better, but I really quickly felt drained of all energy so I went to bed at...22!
On Sunday night I felt the flu starting to get to me hard, and I basically didn't do much until I had to go on a first job interview on Monday.
March 8th :
At this point I only functioned thanks to medication. I also received my new open wardrobe that I somehow managed to build despite my state.
I've been living here for two and a half years but have too much stuff to fit in one wardrobe. So now at least I can share the load between both of them.
Later that day was also the recruitment for the newcomers in the association. I forced myself to go so I can get some air and meet the newbies! But the mood was basically this :
ESN FAMILY ❤️
March 10th :
I was supposed to stay home and put, but my friends convinced me to tag along with them to a party close to my place. So I tried to put as much makeup as I could as to not look completely dead (still had that shiny nose though!) and tried to enjoy the night. Don't think I mentioned it but I have stopped drinking completely, and people wondered how I could still enjoy myself, but it's easy when you're crazy! We also got to make a little round the block in a limo, it was fun. But then I went home because I started missing Him too much, and it just made it worse.
More faceswap nightmares.
March 12th & 13th:
It was the inter-committee weekend! My association is split in two if you may, between my university (UNIL) and the other neighbouring university (EPFL), and once a semester, we rent a chalet, and we get together to introduce the association to the newbies, and of course, party. Pictures speak louder than words :
We are silly.
This week, nothing much has happened. I've been going to work almost every night this week, and I've also been feeling better too, which is good. On Monday we gathered all after the weekly meeting and had some food to spend one last evening with Léa who is leaving for two months to be a volunteer in Vietnam. On Tuesday I've had lunch with friends I haven't seen in a while, so it was nice to catch up with them and have a laugh. On Wednesday after work (I finish at 21), I joined some friends at the bar to celebrate St Patrick's Day, but I was feeling pretty down and unmotivated so I left after only an hour. Yesterday was a little bit of a productive day, I cleaned my apartment a bit, changed the bed sheets and waited for it to be time to go to work in a clean and fresh bed. Best feeling ever.
And that's pretty much what I'm doing now too! In 3 hours I'll have to go to work, so I decided to kill time making this long ass article, and watching Making of a Murderer. I just started, do you guys like it?
Obsessed with this. The lyrics. Man.
These places are so dreamy. I love big windows, cosy living rooms, and open spaces.
No update yesterday, I actually was so tired that I just wanted to get home after work and sleep. Instead of going to bed too early, I watched a few episodes of The Office (the American one), and then J. called me and we talked for a while until I fell asleep.
I woke up to the great news that Leonardo DiCaprio fiiiinallyyyy got his Oscar! I've been rooting for him since the very beginning, in fact, since I have watched Titanic back in 1997. I was only 4 years old back then, but I had an instant crush on him, and I've watched nearly every movie he has ever made. Talk about an ideal! I'm now thinking maybe I should also make a movie category, and review movies or write what I thought of movies I've watched. I'm trying to watch more movies but I'm more into TV shows in general.
Right now, I've just finished eating lunch, and I'm waiting for the apple pie that I've made to be done cooking, as I'm thinking that I will bring it to the committee meeting tonight. I'm sure they will love it. I also have to swing by the post office and send out a couple of letters and maybe even a package.
So many things, such little time!

This. This song gives me so many feels. Put it on. Close your eyes. Let it transport you.
Like a dead body that falls to the ground, or a paper that crashes on to the floor, signing its end of life, I sink. Too many questions, too few answers, I try anyway to clear those black spots that my life has allowed to come. I am not allowed to fail, and yet this is what I am going straight into. Like in a dream, I don't see myself thinking nor trying to get out of it. Inexorably, indefinitely I fall, I sink and I finally drown sooner or later. But it's time for me to sit up and try to speak, in vain maybe, but just speak words that are not too heavy to carry, and not too heartbreaking to whoever hears them.
Ultimately, is it worth it? Good god how my life has changed irreversibly and suddenly. Summer will soon come but I will stay forever in the cold. I acknowledge that I had more than my share of intense moment. Most people don't get to have the existence they wished for. I, during mine, I scattered my heart here and there, and the result is that now I don't have enough left for me to live. But I try to smile because I have confidence in the future.
I open to this world a discreet glance, filled with uncertainty.
Thought I'd share with your recipe of what I've made today for lunch. I was experimenting one day with what little I had in my fridge one day, and this was the result!
WHAT YOU NEED :
For the main dish :
• pasta! Duh. Any kind you want.
• smoked salmon.
• crème fraîche or sour cream. I used crème fraîche this time.
For the side dish :
• anything you want that's remotely like a salad, or if that's enough for you, then nothing at all is good enough. Today I had grated carrots.
STEP BY STEP :
STEP 1 :
Put water to boil. Why? What do you mean why? How else do you wanna cook your pasta dummy!?
Yeee that's a soon to be boiling pot of water.
STEP 2 :
Put the crème fraîche or sour cream in an other pot on low or medium low.
It's about to get nom.
STEP 3 :
Cut the smoked salmon in small squares or however you want it to be really.
STEP 4 :
Add the salmon to the sauce. Trust me. Do it. Do it already! Stir regularly.
STEP 5 :
Water is boiling? Add your pasta, and cook it for however long is recommended.
STEP 6 :
When the pasta is cooked, take it out, drain the water, add the salmon and sauce, ENJOY.
Oh yeah. The grated carrots too.
