Uploaded a video / vlogish of my 20th birthday celebration. To bad I had to exchange the first song to a instrumental version instead of the original. Anyhow!
Found this comment with an explanation of the video, found it interesting so here it goes:
"For three minutes you are watching a hyper-sexualized Teyana Taylor work out. Afterwards, your feelings of desire are rewarded with a sex scene. But the scene abruptly cuts off and shows her as a cat resting on a masculine love interest. He's holding a baby, surrounded by a flock of sheep. The transition is jarring. It catches you off guard and breaks your trance. It's meant to promote reflection on what you were feeling for the last few minutes. The cat symbolizes subordination and domestication. Taylor is no longer the focus of the shot like she was the entirety of the video. The man is now the center of attention. What happened to Taylor? She was shown off to be strong and sexy in one moment, but completely tamed in the latter. Kanye points out a contradiction that he also mentions in his other songs on the album, specifically "Wolves" and "Highlights". Men desire a bad bitch but also a nurturing, docile mother. In "No More Parties in LA" he further talks about how the hip-hop community is full of women who will transform themselves. They sacrifice their individualism to find a rich man, get pregnant, and secure their status in society. Kanye calls into question all of these societal impositions and their resulting toxicity. However, this is also hypocritical of him by how he portrays his wife and models, and also through his treatment of women. However, the vaguest symbol in the video are the sheep. One opinion is that the sheep are the consumers of media - celebrity culture. Or, they can be all of those that flock to a a portrayal of a sexualized woman. But seeing as there's also a baby in the mix and knowing Kanye's fondness of Catholic imagery, it also serves as a nativity scene. Kanye then adds another layer of meaning onto his work by casting an all black cast. The primary target of his art is the African-American community, as it's been for most of his albums. I say this because he prefaced the premiere of this video with a speech about how murderous and impoverished parts of Chicago (his home town) can be. He also wants to make it clear how a child's future can be stiffened if they don't grow up in a safe and nurturing environment. The characters in the music video are there for you to question the societal expectations of African-Americans. How will the baby turn out? How can he or she live up to these impossible standards of hyper-masculinity or achieve a body like Teyana Taylor's? Will the child throw aways its potential for growth like Taylor did chasing these ideals? A child exposed to this imagery is a recipe for low self-esteem and anxiety.Although the song itself is about a dying relationship, Kanye often uses his music videos to promote another theme. The central message behind Fade is for you to cast away your presumptions about what people are meant to be because that's a barrier for love, growth, and individualism - otherwise "your love is fading".
Well well well. Speaking of taking a leap in my last post - here is the next! I´ll let the video speak for it self. *Excusing the amateur quality. But hey, enough with the excuses - there it is!
During our trip in Austria one of our goals was to try out Paragliding from one of the beautiful mountains in Tirol. Said and done we did it and it was the greatest thing I´ve probably ever done!! If you ever have the chance to try it - do it!!
While being up there in the sky everything was completely peaceful and quiet. The mountains rolled out their enormous bodies in front of you and everything seemed so unreal.
You were not aloud to bring a camera with you while flying, therefor the pictures that are taken from the ground are photographed by my dad and the other pictures from the air is taken by the professional paraglider that you flew with.
But then the whole ride was not only calm and peaceful. We also made some "trix" in the air like loops and spins and then you even got to "steer the wheel" yourself. Amazing.
Thought I would show you a few of my fav pictures from my stay here in Tirol. I am currently here visiting my family with William. Exploring wonderful food, places and people. My favourite place in the world.
The first one to greet me - Benji the three legged dog. Even though he had to suffer some bad times earlier in life he is still the happiest of all dogs and the amount of hugs and massages he requires does not have a limit.
The famous Maria Teresen Strasse in Innsbruck, shopping shopping shopping.
A visit at the beautiful Hofkirche right next to the old town in Innsbruck.
Then last but not least some amazing food at a restaurant called Soul Kitchen which is a must if you are visiting Innsbruck. The food was incredible and not to speak of their menu with almost 100 different kinds of beer.
Went to the swedish city Lund yesterday to see Matt Corby perform on "Mejeriet". Such a great place to watch a concert. Not to speak of the amazing performance. He is truly one of the best singers/ music artists out there and even if it would seem impossible he was even better live than on record.
How cool is this place though? Deserves a whole post. I don´t want to say it out loud but have you noticed the yellow leaves on the ground? Yep, winter is coming ladies, winter is coming. Brace yourselves.
Had a few sunny days off in Stockholm with the fam. Walked around in true tourist spirit, visited the royal castle, old town, a bunch of restaurants and tried out vegan gelato. Came home a few days later with sore legs and the car filled with shopping bags and better Pokémons.
If you are visiting Varberg, Halland, here in Sweden then a stroll through the harbour is a must. Walk around the boardwalk by the seaside and the fortress, have dinner or a drink at one of the resaturants and look out over the occean as the sun falls down. Preferably with some lovely company.
Brought the car out to a lake to escape the heat at W´s courtyard. A perfect lake with no other visitors and the water is beautiful. Since the lake has been "dead" for quite a while there is no fish or any kind of life in the water which makes it look perfectly blue or almost turquoise.
Then I kissed my bug Auf Wiedersehen at the train station since tomorrow I am leaving for another city! But now it is time for me to go to work, or well, log in! Stay tuned.
