last year - july 25th - I started the maybe biggest adventure of my whole life. I remember like it was yesterday saying goodbye – with a lot of tears to my family and my closest friends at the airport. after a stop in frankfurt and a 9 hours flight I finally arrived the US. I spend a very planned week at long island. on thurstday we made a short trip to new york city – it was breathtaking. friday was the big day – we flew to our families. for me - columbus, ohio. I was so excited. I will never forget the moment when I finally saw my hostfamily. I was so happy and a little nervous at the same time.
6 months later I never regretted the big step I took.
“when was the last time you did something for the first time?”
for me: I did more things the last few months the first time than in my whole life before – and it feels so good.
I met wonderful people, saw amazing places, became more independent, improved my english and learned a lot about myself. I also realized how lucky I am to have such an awsome family and friends at home. thank you for always believed in me taking this chance and being there for me, even if I’m on an other continent so far away.
without my great hostfamily – jen, dan, sofia, daniel, isabella, lucia and vinnie (the dog) – the last ½ year wouldn’t be that special for me. you welcomed me in youre house and became my second family. you make me laught and feel like home. I will never forget what you did for me – you’ll always have a place in my heart.
It’s gonna be hard for the second half to top the last one 😉 my next plans are to visit chicago, washington and the niagara falls. in april I’m meeting my mami, aunt and my friend nina in new york city and spend a week with them there - aaahhhh 😍 🗽🚕
on july, 25th 2017 my travelmonth begins – keep you updated!
my life as an au pair gives me the chance to really live the american culture, to celebrate holidays like thanksgiving and christmas, go to footballgames and tailgatepartys, go out to the bars on campus and meet osu-students, travel around the country and meet a lot of new, most very open and nice people.
when you dicide to take the step and become an au pair you know it’s gonna change your whole life but I never thought about how much it changed me. I apriciate the things I have in my life more. I‘m more open than I was and less scared about new, foreign things.
you only life once and I think you have to make the best out of it –
and this whole journey was one of the best things I did.
