I got a whole lot of questions when i posted on Instagram Stories from our boat excursion at the shores of Golfo di Orosei, so i decided this would be the perfect blog post to consecrate my new blog here at nouw.com. So, here we go.

Fligh: There wasn't any direct commercial flights in May/June from Oslo to Alghero - Sardinia, so we bought ¨tickets only¨ with the charter company TUi. (There is also another airport in Cagliari.) There may be direct commercial flights from Norway during high season tho.

Rental Car: From the airport we rented a car through rentalcars.com with Sicily by car. The car was supposed to be Volkswagen Golf or similar, we got a small Renault Captur (which was very eco friendly) the cost for the car was 2 900 NOK / 320 Euro / 360 US Dollars with full insurance coverage. We chose to stay in Cala Gonone which is the city that is closest to the private boat rental. The ride from Alghero to Cala Gonone is about 160 km and took about 2,5 hours (the roads are not exactly fast). The nature when you get close to Cala Gonone is spectacular, at one point we where suddenly above the clouds!

Hotel: If you have ever been to Sicily or Sardinia you know that the hotel standard isn't exactly high compared to a lot of other places in Europa or the US. We ended up staying at the Hotel Cala Luna a 3 star hotel (which was better the our 4 star in Porto Cervo). The service was good, and we even got duvets on request. You are going to spend the hole day outside anyways so dont mind to much about facilities. The walk from the Hotel to the boat rental/ harbor is about 4-5 min.

Boat:You can rent your own boat (a small 40 horsepower rib) at the Marina, there are lots of small stands that all arrange it. We made the arrangements the day before to be sure to get a boat. I recommend doing this as all the boats were gone all day when we were there.

Btw, you dont need a license to drive it and basically anyone can manage it - I would recommend to get out early, as the sun hits the beaches and caves in the moring/ early afternoon.

Price for the boat is: 100 Euro (+ fuel) for a full day. 08.30-18.00. We spent 35 Euro one day and 25 Euro the other.

You get a cooler and umbrella with the boat too so make sure to pop by the supermarked and stack up with lots og food and water. It takes about 50 min to go from Cala Gonone to Capo Monte Santa if you drive fast ( see the map below).

There are a lot to explore in this area so take your time and enjoy.
